Orienteering 1:00:00 [3]

Up to Black Magic to pick up some controls. It was raining pretty hard in the Village, which turned to wet snow about half way up. I was not quite prepared for this clothing wise. Picked up 4 controls, as I fell on the way to the fourth and soaked my glove, so decided to call it a day. Control #4 had evidence of animal intervention (bent stand, claw/teeth marks in the flag, unit stomped into the ground), so I moved out pretty quickly.

Navigation was fine, but I was being extremely careful since I was up there by myself and didn't want to get lost and cold.

Orienteering 2:10:00 [3]

BC Champs at Black Magic. I was already starting to feel the cold coming on... Pascal was sick last week and I've been feeling like I was fighting something. On the walk to the start I was not feeling great. Pretty quickly made the decision to do the Black Magic portion of the course and skip the Lost Lake part. The forest was so beautiful - I did stop and admire the beautiful emerald moss-covered ground and the open forest! Big mistake on #2, again where I didn't have a solid plan. By #8 my orienteering brain had disappeared. Did a nice trail run from #10 via some trails in LL to #17, then back in. Was happy that after 1.5 hrs or so of running/hiking in the forest I was able to run for 20 minutes or so with no IT/knee pain and I had the fitness to do it!
