Didn't think i was up to it, and i wasn't. Probably a bit slack of me. DNF at this event as per usual, i was a tougher person last year, though i missed a control. This time, just slack.

SS#10 Belair

Course: Medium 3.2 km 180 m
This had lots of brown wiggly things on the map, but that was to be expected. Since i was recovering from a cold i opted for the Medium course. Simon called me weak, which was quite right since i was feeling weakend by the cold. The course had route choices with a couple of alternatives for pretty much each leg. They all resulted in similar climb, but the distance v the steepness increased with the shorter options. I tried a bit of both. Afterwards Fern and I went to Liz and Ryan's to scoff our faces with pizza.

Ran down Wynns Road and back up Main Road to Blackwood Forest. Wasn't feeling particularly enthusiastic or energetic, but it was a pleasant night. It was good to have Fern with us too! we ran past a couple of potential properties (Fern and I are also house hunting - lets hope we don't clahs with Jenny and Georff) and home again.

Terrain Running

First time in the terrain for 2012. It was hard work as expected, and i struggled for the greater part of it. It was fun none the less and the sun that warmed the back of my legs in the last 5 min of the run was just pleasant. Fern was spotted half way aroun our loop which gave me some encouragement to keep going!

Half the Park

We ran around half the park! This inlcuded one leg of our run which extend from the northern edge of hte park to the southern edge. Looking at the map it was the widest part of the park north to south. Now you'd think that doesn't mean much since we often run from the extreme east to the extreme west of the park quite often. Yeah, except there is usually only one hill doing that. The north to south had quite a few more extreme climby bits. We were all hoping that everyon was joking about climbing the last hill, but no, Simon doesn't "do" bluff. I had a pretty consistent (slow) run where the others had a break at each ridge, whenever i caught up to them, they'd run off and I wouldn't get a break. They are such slackers for having rests.

Rode with Fern to town :) Stopped at Clapham Primary on the way to drop off the key from Friday Night and said hello to my yr 6 teacher again! Then we rode down Unley Rd.... Got called a "twit" by a twit who thought i was being a twit by riding passed a bus (OMG that cant' ever happen). I think the driver was just more pissed off because they couldn't get passed the bus without changing lanes. So the first day commuting to work and i get abuse hurled at me. Yay for incompetent drivers!

Rode with Fern up Brownhill Creek from home then up Pony Ridge. Well we walked up Pony Ridge. Then we rode down through belair. It was a relatively pleasant ride.

Simon hijacked tonights run and had us climb up over railway tunnel portals and other various clambering things. In fact this run seemed like a lot of clambering. Not that there was much steepness, but it i was tired from 2 full days in the field and the 3 hour drive home. Lots of people on this run tonight it seemed, including for the first bit Cheryl from TJ, yes finally another TJ comes running.
