Well this was a polar opposite to the previous day - when speaking of the weather... I was feeling a little stressed prior to going out due to the kids, but I had to leave them with Gra so i could get to the start. Once out there i calmed down and focussed on the task at hand - beating Slatts. I wobbled on the wa to 1, but have no idea how or why, apart from the vast amounts of fallen timber to bound over, dodge and break. No major issues with nav or route choice other than a slight hesitation into 7 where i didn't take proper note of junctions leading up to the control. I had a fall into 9 and made a loud clunking sound which disturbed Phil H. From 9 I could see Slatts at the bottom of the hill (still about 2-3min ahead of me), I was really smooth and clean through the final controls until the last one where i mis-read my control description, thinking i should be punching 114 instead of 105. What an idiotic mistake. This cost me ~40 seconds. My time was 47:50, Slatts was 47:16..... If it wasn't a dead heat, i would've got him by a most annoying margin (to him). Instead Slatts got me by a most annoying margin.

2017 SA Middle Distance Champs - Wonna Creek
1:31 PM. Wonna. Burned 368.89 calories.
Min./Max.: 22.9 °C/25.1 °C; Pressure: 1014.0 mbar; Humidity: 22.9%; Dew point: 0.7 °C; Wind Speed: 6.7 km/h; Precipitation: 0.0mm
Course: M35A 5.5 km 175 m
A realtively warm race considering the recent weather. It was pretty good fun, but climbing in and out of all those creeks was really tiring. I followed Simon out of 10 and i still think he didn't have the optimal route choice, I think staying lower in the creek would've been quicker than the contouring we did. I found the 13-16 trickier than i was expecting and lost a little bit of time with lack of confidence in the circles while i struggled to fully understand the rock detail.
