Cycling (Lynton and Sheps) 1:35:10 [3] 16.4 km (10.3 kph) +280m
ahr:132 max:172 shoes: Merida MATS 500

First time out on the MTB for quite some time. Fern and I went up to check out the Lynton Quarries Trails. I didn't find them too impressive or that well marked. But there is definately some more exploring to be done there. We crossed over the train tunnel and dropped into Shepherd's Hill. Nice down hill sections. It was warm but good fun. Didn't see too many other Mountain Bikers out.

Running (Belair) 50:28 [3] 6.6 km (7:39 / km)
ahr:139 max:162 shoes: Asics Gel Kayano XV

Coined a new phrase for my run last night "lomoslomo" which means low motivation, slow moving run. Some people at Belair probably would have called my effort "nomonomo"

Cycling (Work Commute) 47:00 [3] 22.0 km (28.1 kph)

Finally I found a day to get out on my bike. With the motivation of last nights dessert and the beautiful weather I headed down the gauntlet to get to work. Mumford and Sons "Sigh No More" was blazing on the Iriver and it was a great fun ride. Even managed a new high speed of 49km/hr behind the velodrome. I was even early enough to work to beat Tom and Richard to the shower! Pity the network is down on the GS otherwise i'd actually be working now not APing.

Cycling (Work Commute) 53:00 [3] 23.0 km (26.0 kph)

The ride home was a lot harder. Head wind all the way and peak hour traffic. It's a battlefield out there.

The gym hurts. I think i swore more tonight than usual.

Running hills (Morialta) 48:18 [3] 7.3 km (6:37 / km) +225m 5:44 / km
ahr:163 max:180 shoes: Asics Gel Kayano XV

The 2nd Morialta run or the season. I'm going to love the season. Felt a little bit (very little bit) faster up the hill and i think about 4minutes faster all round than last week. Troy kept me company and chatting the whole way, caught up to Mr Z at the turnaround point and hada good chat about cognitve sciences. It was a good run.

Took my Brother, Sister in-law and Father out to dinner (Troy crashed too) and ate steaks. Followed this up with a whole lot of chocolate from Chocolate Bean. See tomorrows AP Trog for the start of this recovery of many millions of calories.

Running (Mitcham) 39:28 [3] 5.75 km (6:52 / km) +90m 6:22 / km
ahr:148 max:177 shoes: Asics Gel Kayano XV

It was one of those runs where both of my legs felt like 100kg each. But i trudged through at a slow but steady pace. We climbed from Brown Hill Creek up to the dodgy carpar at McElligot's Quarry. All the deals seemed to be taking place when we got there. On the way back down the hill the idea of putting extra weight on Simon to see if he could still be faster then me when he weighed the same. I think it'd be funny to see him snap like a twig. Wasn't too bad of a run just seemed rather labourious.

Caught up with Rachael and Pete after and ate Roast Duck Pizza at Glenelg followed by an Anderson's Icecream and a brisk walk to the end of the jetty and back.

Running (Cleland) 29:11 [3] 4.7 km (6:13 / km)
shoes: Asics Gel Kayano XV

It was going to be a long run, but after much deliberation and general tardiness, it was decided a short run in Cleland was in order. Troy and i trudged off on short one which plunged straight down into a deep gully which only very slowy climbed back up to a waterfall then happily contoured around the hill back to the car at Eagle on the Hill. It was a very pleasant run int light drizzle amongst the flowing creek and noisy birds.

Running (The Traps) 24:04 [3] 4.2 km (5:44 / km) +10m 5:40 / km
ahr:153 max:161 slept:5.0 shoes: Asics Gel Kayano XV

I don't think i really needed to do this run, but i agreed to. Took off at 6am to do a bit of a temp run toward the west. Problem was my legs and i were just too tired to do it. Fern and I got as far as Goodwood road and traveresd the back streets to the railway crossing on Sussex Tce. I decided i had had enough and turned up the Railway line for home. Fern followed and once we got home, Fern went off to do a second lap. This was the first time in ages i have been on an early morning run. It followed some hard work at the gym and poor sleep, so it probably wasn't the greatest idea.
Probably would've been better off running at lunchtime from Mawson Lakes.

Gym (Trainer) 52:00 [3]
ahr:148 max:187

Started ou bad with 5 min on the Treadmill. I hate those things. But things improved with some squats, followed by squats, and we led into some squats. After that there were some lunges (but they are pretty similar to squats) and some squats with medicine balls, and some backwards squats (he called them leg raises, but i know better).
I have a feeling he's targetting my abs, and legs. It's a good thing i don't mind doing squats.

Running hills (Morialta) 51:26 [3] 7.3 km (7:03 / km) +226m 6:06 / km
ahr:159 max:174 shoes: Asics Gel Trabuco XI

First episode back at Morialta. It was good. My legs felt mighty heavy at the start, but seemed to loosen up after a while. Did the ol' loop and managed to do the hill climb in 9'03. This is a good benchmark to improve on. The weather was great and there was water flowing in the creek and over the falls. Went for dinner with Troy and Andrea after the run at Cafe Buongiorno. Mmm Caneloni.

Running (Brown Hill Ck) 40:00 [3] 6.0 km (6:40 / km)
shoes: Asics Gel Kayano XV

An easy run with Jenny up to the bridge in Brown Hill Creek and back. Sotpped off at Lexie and Mikes on the way home to get the gory details of the honeymoon.

Running long (Belair) 1:18:42 [4] 12.1 km (6:30 / km) +246m 5:54 / km
ahr:161 max:173 shoes: Asics Gel Kayano XV

Felt urged to go for a long run. So I did. I took off from the Country Club and run all the way up Long Gully to the Redwoods. I paused there to admire the spring air and general spring-ness of my surrounds and then RAN up the Besa Block track all the way to the Tap. Came down the hill via the Upper Falls, Single Track, Lower Falls, and Pony Ridge Gate. Kept on coming down the hill via Lodge track and Lake Jubilee. It was quite a jubilant way to end a run.
Felt pretty good the whole way and even had fun! There wasn't many people about after Long Gully and it was so peaceful.

Running (Belair) 49:54 [3] 6.9 km (7:14 / km) +121m 6:39 / km
ahr:150 max:171 shoes: Asics Gel Kayano XV

Got to Belair early so i snuck out ahead of everyone else. Don't know why, but i felt like running alone. Ran up to the Pony Ridge Gate and then back down via Lower Falls and Echo Tunnel. It was wierd for two reasons. 1. It was daylight, and 2. I went down hill through Echo Tunnel. Odd. Got back to my car to find it decorated in pink tape.

Running (Mitcham) 42:54 [3] 6.9 km (6:13 / km) +81m 5:52 / km
ahr:160 max:176 shoes: Asics Gel Kayano XV

First run with the team in quite some time. A largish group too - 7. Picked up my bro on the way. It was still apparent that i was the slow poke of the group, but I had the stamina. Great to run with everyone again!

Running (Carrick Hill) 41:50 [3] 6.7 km (6:15 / km) +94m 5:50 / km
ahr:157 max:197 shoes: Asics Gel Kayano XV

Just a run - that is all.
It was pleasant to have that smell of hot wet bitumen rising as it started to drizzle around me. I'm talking about rain - not bitumen.
This run followed a day of relaxing, playing Wallace and Grommit and HOUSEWORK. Egads you say. That's right i picked up a mop.

Even had to force Fern to pick up a broom to sweep some paths - after her 12 hour victorious Rogaine. Aren't I cruel....

Running long (Waite and Carrick Hill) 1:05:18 [3] 10.0 km (6:32 / km) +164m 6:02 / km
ahr:165 max:181 shoes: Asics Gel Kayano XV

First long run in a while. Climbed to the back of Springfield and Carrick Hill, then up to McElligot's Quarry, passed the cemetarty, then Karl's house then home. I'm a wee bit tired now....

Gym (Trainer) 50:00 [3]
ahr:138 max:168

I don't think i should have eaten so close to going to the Gym.
Ben ( my PT) decided to test my pain threshold with excercises on the arm. A lot of swearing and nashing of teeth, but i got through.

Running (Brown Hill Creek) 41:36 [3] 6.8 km (6:07 / km) +52m 5:54 / km
ahr:155 max:169 shoes: Asics Gel Kayano XV

Evening run with Fern and Jenny. Up the river to the bridge and back. For a "recovery" run it seemed like a fast pace..... You just can't stop those girls.

Running (Springfield) 40:44 [3] 7.0 km (5:49 / km) +91m 5:28 / km
ahr:162 max:178 shoes: Asics Gel Kayano XV

It seems to be that a run before getting ready to go to a wedding is becoming a ritual. And all the food i ate last night, probably a necessity. My Eggs on Toast with a Cafe Latte, were sitting quite well until the down hill on the way home. Kept it all in though. Had to pick up the pace to attempt to catch the nice young lady in front of me, almost did, though sadly she took off around the corner while i had to keep straight ahead. Feeling pretty good about running. I'm loving it.

Now which suit to wear now....

Running hills (Clapham) 45:46 [3] 7.7 km (5:57 / km) +101m 5:35 / km
ahr:160 max:176 shoes: Asics Gel Kayano XV

Yeah, i'm loving running. Had a spare 45min so donned my new swanky running duds and my favourite shoes and headed off for some easy hills. Yes i know it was only 100m climb, but it was more then i've done for a while. Thinking about things as you run is a good way to think, until you realise you have no idea where you are or where you came from..... Good thing you can't get lost in the suburbs around my house, and thank god for GPS tracking to know where i have been!

Bring on the 2 weddings for the weekend. yikes.

Running (Unley Park) 45:40 [3] 8.0 km (5:43 / km) +50m 5:32 / km
ahr:163 max:175 shoes: Asics Gel Kayano XV

Not feeling like a hilly run in Belair, i went on my lonesome for a squirt around Unley. Felt like i kept a damn good pace and happy the whole run. Didn't stop for lon at all on the run, only a couple of seconds for traffic. Actually felt like keeping going, but thought that it was enough after a more solid week then i'm used to at the moment.
Bumped into robw at the SSC2009 conference here in Adelaide yesterday, but couldn't convince him to come for a run in Belair, not surprised really, who is mad enough to do that...
On another note, I think I have some sort of goal, no race in mind yet, but by the end of the year i want to feel comfortable about doing a half marathon. I think it is achievable, i just hope i have the drive and determination to pull it off.
