Fern suggested after the long day of touring that we go for a run. I was a little dubious, but i obliged. After all, how could i say no to her? We ran directly east from the appartment to the water front then south along the water to the lagoon and turned around and ran back. Fern said i was leading the pace, but i don't know, it's hard to lead when you are always behind. It felt fast. Also it was noted that my elbow is exactly at Fern's shoulder height. We tested this theory several times. This is probably why i was leading from the rear.

Fern arrived in Cairns! YAY! I took her to do my usual run from the apartments. As i thought, Fern really excelled up the hill and really did her best to show me up. I beat her running down the stairs though :P We went out for a fish dinner in town. Fern had the biggest Tiger Prawn's i have ever seen! I think the three prawns had more meat then my Red Emperor steak.

This felt tough. The weekend without running showed, and my enthusiasm after a hard day of practical training showed. But still wasn't as slow as i thought i would've been.

Did it again, and i thought it was going to be a lot slower then the previous two attempts. I was surprised to see that it wasn't much slower then Monday night. I did do a bit of walking back from the bottom of the hill because it was humid and i was tired. Looks like i will have to keep trying this to try and conquer the hill. Apparently was spotted by one aof the Navy dudes from my training course, he said i looked in the zone and i never even saw him.

A second attempt at the Red Arrow Loop. This time it seemed much better than Saturday, and i enjoyed it too. So many people on the trail and a lot to dodge. Dare i say it - i could've done it faster..... No one will know yet.

First run back in Cairns, and i was half expecting this to be easier than it was. Good views and not bad weather for running. I think i will put my poorish effort down to aclimatisation since its a whole lot warmer here than in Adelaide. mmmmm Warm.

It was a particularly dar run without my torch. but Fern tried to share hers, problem was that if i was in front of her i would cast a huge dark shadow wherever i was to put my feet. And when i ran behind Fern, i couldn't really keep up...

Long run with Fern after a nice sllep in on a Sunday morning. It was bloody hard work climbing to the top of Belair which almost took an hour. The run back down was great fun, and by the time we got to the playground in the park, i was very tired, with 3km still to go. Luckily for us we got to go to Little Leaf and Bean with Fern's Parents and we had hot chocolate and cake. Then Barnacle Bills seafood with my parents. Followed byt he season final of Doctor Who. What an awesome weekend.

A fast paced evening run with Fern before dinner at Jimies Pizzeria in Crafers. Pizza was good, run was good, so all was good.

Troy, Fern and I went running in Belair. We bumped into Jenny, Zara and Callum going the other direction. We even got ourselves confuzzled in the back streets of Glenalta on the way home.

A nice crusiy run primarily with Fern around the lake. Couldn't be arsed doing intervals. So Simon, Jenny and Bridget did them on our behalf.

Brown Hill Hill Climb
6:44 PM. Brown Hill. Burned 841 calories.

Ran up Brown Hilll. It was good. Perfect night for this run with such clear crisp skies. The hill climb was tough, but i am tougher. Simon didn't even have to come back and make me a run. Fern did instead.

Gumeracha Goldfields
10:28 AM. Mt Crawford Forest. Burned 482 calories.
Course: 2 6.2 km 230 m
Dunno about this, i think i was suffering from fatigue with the last couple of days of effort. No real problems with navigation but i just couldn't get a pace going. Fern caught me on the hill climb, but i got away again in the thick native scrub. Quite a few unflagged dangerous mine shafts very close to controls which i found a little dodgy. One competitor came back and got rather angry about the shafts. They were on the map, but were not flagged on the gorund and were very dangerous. I don't know about the rules in this case, but i thought controls could've been better placed not anywhere so near to them. They were on the map however (the ones i found).

Olave Hill Run
3:38 PM. Upper Sturt. Burned 1178 calories.

A great afternoon for a run with Fern. We climbed up Olave Hill Road (I walked a lot while Fern did a bit of doubling back) Then once we got to the top i suggested we ran to the lodge and back down through Long Gully passing Karka Pavillion. It was a rather pleasant run and a goo pace at times. We saw Toy Story 3 3D after the run and it was AWESOME!

Left home at 0620 for this run, i told Fern if it was below 0 i was going back to bed. It was 2 degrees. So i went out with Fern for a run. It was rather chilly, i was wearing glvoes and a beanie. The run was kind of spoiled by a stupid old bat with her dog in Belair NP, we said "good morning" and she growled at us for having bright lights. It kind of upset me. By the time we got home it had dropped in temperature to 1.5 degrees and i had to get the jug of water to defrost Fern's windscreen.

It was cold. Fern and I ran to the park from my place then had to hang around for 30min, by then it was colder. The run felt mighty slow for me, but i'm not so sure based on what SportTracks tells me. I almost pulled the pin because of a bit of the CBF factor, but i trudged on, and even suggested to Fern we could run home too.
