Black Hill Challenge

Underprepared for this, but still had some fun doing it. I was aiming around the 2hour mark and came in nicely under in 1hr47'53" so relatively pleased. I was passed a fair bit by people early on but caught a whole lot back up just being able to walk faster on the up hills. Some of those people i passed on the up managed to pass me on the downs. I wasn't being over cautious on the downs, but i think i chose the wrong shoes for today. The climbs were killer but i managed them quite well i thought. Didn't feel like a 107' run.

Riding with Fern

Fern and I rode into the park then up QJD and back down Saddle Hill Road. We took a detour to Karka to plan some wedding stuff it was a nice morning for riding. What a day though, Pancakes for breakfats, Riding, Scones for lunch, move and cut up the water tank, fix the downpipe, entertain the family, and then make pizza dough for dinner.

Three Councils Run

A HUGE group of us - 12 in all and 1 dog. I had done this run before, so i kinda knew what i was in for. Some of the others weren't. It was a bit warm in the sun and even in the valleys, there wasn't much escape from the mid 20 temperature. Water is an issue tih orienteers, they need to learn to carry water. Fern bumped her head pretty badly at the Upper Sturt General Store when walking through the park gate (why do they have a beam at head level across the gate i'll never know). Meanwhile Lauren managed to kick Bridget in the shin while stretching. Big groups are funny. Afterwards we ate second breakfast at Sheoak Cafe. We freaking love that place.

Troy, Andrea, Fern and I went for a bit of a trot before breakfast. Troy got told off by the CFS for parking too close to the gate. We ate pancakes afterwards and Lauren dropped in. It was a perfect morning followed up with lots of yard work.

Tyson's Run

Fern and I ran over to Belair to meet the crew, spying Zed still on her way home from work. Once we got there we were disappointed to find Bridgemon leaving. So Jenny, Zed, Fern and I all headed off up the gully crying because Bridgemon don't like us. Actually i pushed a bit harder and then decided that since we had to run home again anyway, I hijacked the run to head up to Olave Hill Road. Not intending on the ladies joining me (they had other plans), they decided to anyway and it turned out to be a very lovely run. Saw stacks of Koalas and quite a few Kangaroos, and saw the sun setting over the gulf with a nice golden glow in the trees.

Rob's Day walk

A nice day walk hosted by Rob. We walked up a creek system and climbed a waterfall and then up a spur to Fricks Dam for lunch. This was really lovely. The walk along the Battery was a bit meh, but the views out over Spencer's Gulf was pretty good. The parks have altered the track down into Alligator Gorge now and it would make for a good mtb track until you hit the creek, then the difficulty seems to skyrocket. We got back to camp with plenty of daylight and enough time to snooze and have our feet eaten by tadpoles and mosquitos. The mosquitos wasn't that nice a thing. During the evening we played more nasty tactics in Mafia. That was fun. What a fun weekend. I had fun, We had fun and everyone had fun. It was fun.

Alligator Gorge Loop Walk

Fern and I joined the Westminster Old Scholars Mount Remarkable trip. We got to the carpark about 1330 and began our arduous walk to the campsite with our gear. After 400m of downhill walking we made it - phew! We set camp and went for an afternoon walk with frisbees in tow to complete the Alligator Gorge Frisbee Golf tournament. So our pace was rather slow. Gorge was nice and weather nice too. People are nice and dinner was nice. Playing Mafia that night was nice, though the tactics got nasty.
