Lucky Hit

First terrain run in a very long time. We started out in the little car park at Lucky Hit and did a loop through the pines and then into the conservation park and spun around a bit. I lost the group (moreover they lost me) and when we found each other we decided re-grouping checkpoints are a good idea. Which also meant we got to essentially race some long-ish legs through the scrub. I saw a fox which was cool and lots of roos. It was a fun morning.

Fern's fabulous rambling run
4:25 PM. Shepherds Hill. Burned 825 calories.

A nice loop with Fern from home around Shepherds Hill Park to the bottom and back up. Fern showed me some of the nice single trails she often runs on. They were fun. There is a lot of down hill on this run which is matched by the equivalent amount of up hill. Lots of up hill.

Kidman Park SS
6:30 PM. Kidman Park. Burned 721 calories.
Course: Long 5.4 km
I did my usual long course at SS, and i left only 2min after Fern. Te course was pretty much flat and this meant i was having to run fast without the excuse of hills to slow me down. I was surprised to see Fern leaving 4 as I was approaching it, thinking i must be super fast. As it turned out Fern had difficulty finding the control at 4. I never saw Fern again after that. But i did manage a good pace for much of the course, though i was slowing down greatly towards the end. It was humid as buggery and the amount i sweat was about 1/3 of the usual John amount, so i was sweating heaps!

Ran to the Redwoods and Back. On the way there with the whole Thursday crew, and on the way back with just Jenny. It was a bit of a humid sticky night and i had had a full day in the field. Despite this it was reasonably fast for me,

I decided that running was a little overrated tonight, Fern agreed. So we ducked home for a short weights session. This was the first time i attempted anything on the ball, which is going to prove to be good for my core strength and balance. I threw som dumblells around too and the result was sore arms.

We warmed up on Blackwood High oval while trying not to find the tapes for the training. I did 6 run throughs, all reasonably slow i thought.

I was the first starter, I was pretty good from the get go and managed a good pace overall, I was surprised that John was the only person to pass me. No mistakes to speak of on this, other than a wobble on 4 because of not being used to the scale. It was fun.

Urban Sprint

Course: 1.6 km
This was the second race, and i started second. I never caught Bridget (who started first) but i did get caught by Jenny and Lauren, and kept just ahead/with them for the rest of the course. Strictly speaking i (and many others) DNF'd this course since we "punched" through an uncrossable fence. It was another course with a lot of fun had.

Bobbing like a buoy
Brighton.

Far too hot to go running (at least for me, Simon didn't think so), so we swam instead. We when i say swam i mean i sat in the ocean and bobbed around until Bidd tried to drown me by standing on my shoulders. Brighton beach seemed to harbour a lot of bogans this evening.
