2012 Asthma Foundation Take A Breather 6 Hour Rogaine
11:00 AM. Second Valley Forest. Burned 2082 calories.

Fern and I took on the 6 hour rogaine without a lot of planning ~around 15 minutes. IT was more fun to be helping the novices out and then chatting to the other rogainers. Although we did have a reasonably good plan it would seem.
We headed off into the forest with a plan to jog the flats and the downhills and walk up the hills. The only problem with that plan is you always seem to be walking up a hill as the running never took as long. We had only 1 issue with navigation but that was primarily an issue with the vegetation marked in the map - it was blatantly wrong, and quite possibly the control shouldn't have been placed here.
There were lots of sponsored controls which generally meant that there were lollies or chocolates to be consumed. At one of the lolly controls the bags had not been open on the Natural Confectionery Company lollies, so we assumed we could consume a whole bag - which we did. Besides it is more hygienic that way.... The rain showered down a couple of times on us and each time i took off my rain coat and put it away it seemed to start again. The rain coat was quite effective at keeping the rain out, but also keeping the sweat in, so in the end i was drenched anyway. At least warm and wet from my own bodily fluids and not cold and wet by the rain. By about the 3.5hour mark my feet were starting to get sore and my groin was getting a little tight too, but we trudged on and even completed our bonus loop. We ended up dropping 3 controls we had planned to do because of time and tiredness. We still got back with 20min to spare and were able to watch a couple of teams doing the jog of shame coming in after the 6hour mark. We ended up as 2nd Mixed team and 6th overall which i think is quite amazing. The food at the Hash House was pretty awesome and on my plate was Bolognaise with Pasta, Rice, Butter Chicken and Rogan Josh. A winning fusion of Italian and Indian cuisine.
