SA Long Distance Championships: Wilpena Spurs Course: M21A 13.5 km 390 m

Well, that was epic. I really didn't think i was up to the effort required for this race, but i was pushed to the start to get out there and do it, so i did. Things started off pretty good and i think i chose the best route to 3, but after a while i lost contact with the map. This occured as the spurs were changing from a E-W direction to a NE-SW direction inadvertantly pulling me left of the leg. The vegetation wasn't quite as mapped and i didn't notice that i was a bit off course. I managed to keep moving and relocate on the way, but it cost me a bit of time. Probably would've beaten Bruce on this leg if i stayed in control. The rest of the course was pretty good, but fatigue really was setting in and i struggled to maintain focus. Looks like i actually sped up a bit at the end on the flatter portions of the map. I survived!

3 PM

Walk 1:30:00 [3] 8.0 km (11:15 / km) +300m 9:28 / km

3:30 PM. Wilpena Pound. Burned 507 calories.
Wangarra Lookout Walk

Fern convinced me that a nice walk would be a good way to loosen up after the race. I was tired. Very tired. But the views and the company were well worth it!

Orienteering race (Middle) 49:33 intensity: (40 @1) + (1:50 @2) + (28:40 @3) + (18:23 @4) *** 7.1 km (6:59 / km) +90m 6:34 / km

1:38 PM. Flinders Ranges. Burned 639.9592 calories.
Prelinna Course: M21A 6.4 km 115 m

A pleasant leg stretcher race after a long drive. Don't think i have much to complain about with the race, i enjoyed all of it! Oh, i followed streamers, but they didn't take me to my control. Silly me.

Running 34:00 [1] 5.86 km (5:48 / km) +86m 5:24 / km
ahr:65 max:100

6:40 PM. Belair NP. Burned 535 calories.

I had a shit day at work - I tried so hard to have a "positive" week to have it thrown in my face by none less than 2 of 4 of our directors. I won't say anymore than that. I went for a run with the "crew" lately reduced to just Jenny Fern and Myself. I was left behind a bit and needless to say this gave me more time to stew on the days kerfuffle. It was still a pleasant run and a nice night. I was feeling a little achy and tight in the chest. 2 more weeks until i see that Cardiologist.

Running 1:01:20 intensity: (4:40 @1) + (8:30 @2) + (41:45 @3) + (6:25 @4) 9.49 km (6:28 / km) +21m 6:23 / km
ahr:148 max:168

6:04 PM. North Adelaide. Burned 868 calories.

Started out with the kiddies, but once they were to start the 3km time trial, FernWerm, Nieuwy and I made off for a more relaxed pace. Or so we thought, because FernWerm just made us run fast.

Running 25:25 intensity: (1:20 @1) + (7:25 @2) + (13:05 @3) + (3:35 @4) 4.03 km (6:18 / km) +76m 5:46 / km
ahr:144 max:168

6:41 PM. Hawthorndene. Burned 367 calories.

Pretty much the same run as last week, but backwards. Only takers tonight were Biddy, FernWerm and myself. If Biddy didn't show up than it would've been a rest night... Not that i need one at all though...
