Started off poorly thanks to the shmozzle that was the start procedure that Yarra Valley attempted. Headed off having no clue as to wher i was going and had no plan either. I knew that if i just kept going i would work it out on the way. Well i sort of worked out where i was once i was in the vicinity of #4, then when i found #4 i was certain of where i was. Pity that navigating from #4 to #1 was still pretty hit and miss for me and i wasted more time. #2 was no better with the inability to work out how the bare rock was mapped amongst the poor visibility of the pine trees. At least i knew where #4 was. The rest of the course i actually did pretty well, and lost time only with fitness and not navigation.
The weekend trip was pretty swift with only just making to the event on Saturday before the starts and then having to leave on Sunday as soon as everyone was back. We spent a total of around 22hours on the road for a total of just over 2hours of orienteering (my total). I wonder if it was worth it?
