Hockey (Match) 1:10:00 [4]

Match against Huddersfield at Home.

Starting with 10 players was alwayts going to make it difficult, and our 11th man didn't arrive until just before half time, which meant we were on the back foot to begin with.

The cocky sods (Huddersfield) were 2 up by half time and gloating. This got worse when they scored another 2 unbelievably lucky goals within a couple of minutes of the the second half starting. The last goal was accompanied by a snotty nosed little s**t coming up to our Captain and saying "We're winning because, I'm F******g Awsome". Red rag to a bull springs to mind.

The match changed slightly at this point, and shortly afterwards the Police scored... Snotty little s**t replies with "It doesn't matter, we're still miles ahead".

Then the Police got a short, Fired in and saved by the keeper who kicked the ball (frighteningly for me) straight back out at me. Danny would have been proud, I hit the ball (the match report said "with aplomb") and it went though "some" players and off the opposite board. Celebrations all round!!
The same prick said "We're still in the lead".

The rest of the half all went the way of the Police... with some fabulous moves, and impressive play all round leading to 2 more Police goals, both of them good.

Liam (our illustrious Captain) walked of to the aforementioned opposition player and asked what the score was. It was a special moment!! The follow-up "You're not in the lead now, are you" led to one of the best expressions I have ever seen...

I cannot put into words how angry, frustrated and upset Huddersfield were. It was comical, especially as we were on a massive high!!

We almost socred 2 more, but were denied by a lack of luck (2 very close efforts) and trounced Huddersfield all the way to the final whistle, finishing it 4-4.

A draw. It doesn't sound that special, but the second half was impressive from us, and the result felt like winning the league, made all the sweeter by a stropping Huddersfield not shaking hands at the end, refusing to talk to us in the bar, and by leaving after their meal without a word. Priceless.

Roll on York next week...

Hockey (Match) 1:10:00 [4]

Hockey at Leeds Uni.

Disappointing turnout meant that only 10 players urned up for the match, which in turn meant that we were outnumbered by the students. The students made the extra man count, and the score was 3-1 to the students at half time.

Thematch continued in that vein throughout, and by the final whistle the score was about 10/11-1.

The Police battled well, and at the end of the match the whole team were knackered having run throughout, but such a demoralising defeat hit the team hard... we didn't stay for teas.

Hockey 1:00:00 [3]

Thursday night hockey... bit of running around, most of which was game related.

Tried to build up some enthusiasm and focus, but found it hard to maintain, having an aching back didn't help much!! Nice Krombacher afterwadds though...

Work (Bonowi course) 2:00:00 [2]

Baton and Cuffs refresher at work

0800-1500 refresher training (I've shown it as 2 hours because it was pretty low level, more of a pulse raiser than a proper session) on some very simple empty hand skills before moving onto batons and handcuffing techniques.

Overall a pretty enjoyable day, got a few bruises and have a bit of a recurring back ache afterwards, but there you are!!

Just need to practive in the real world now... any volunteers?
