Orienteering race 49:04 [5] **** 5.7 km (8:36 / km) +290m 6:52 / km
spiked:9/12c slept:7.0

Leinster Champs on Slieve Foye. Straight Line distance was 4.7km.
Number 1 to 3 were all fine apart from being slow especially on 1 and 2 lots of climb was able to stretch my legs out a bit on the way to number 3 but not much.
Going to number 4 i was already knackered, got a bit confused as i hit the big reentrant just struggling to read the map for some reason so slowed down a lot. Figured it out eventually and headed down to the contol,I think that i would have lost around 2minutes here but didn't compare splits.
Lost about a minute to number 5 mybe 1min30, got into the area but i think that i was too high.
6 was fine and 7 but was slow to number 7.
Lost another 2 minutes or so to number 10, took a compass bearing from the path and must have just missed the control, i realised that there wasn't many features around this area and had wanted to find some sort of attackpoint but couldn't seem to find one.
Overall it was a pretty poor performance a mixture of being very tired and the mistakes. Probably really shouldn't have done so much yesterday.

Orienteering race 36:41 [4] **** 5.12 km (7:10 / km)
spiked:11/16c

Spring Cup event on Slievenagore.
Didin't get off to a great start going wide to number 1, getting distracted by another competitor, but soon seen the control maybe lost 30s.
To number 2 took a compass bearing and headed around the hill was lower than i thought i would be, but didin't lose much time.
From 2 to 9 I found these controls fine but was feeling quite tired.
Number 10 i took a compass bearing not really planning and just assumed that i would hit the control, which I didn't. Went past the control and realised after a while but lost about 2mins here.
11 and 12 were fine slightly low to 11.
13 caught Hugh but hit the control fine.
Lost a bit of time going to number 14 went too far to the right probably lost about 30s.
Rest was fine maybe lost 10s to number 15.
Really enjoyed the short legs on the top of the hill, wasn't long but I was still very tired after.

Orienteering race 5:00 [5]

String sprint, crazy sprinting around a field, good for punching practice think that my fastest time was 1:18. Winner was Colm Hill with 1:11 and Gerard Butler got 1:12 :D Did one before my race as a warm up, don't know if that this would be considered as a good warm up... :)

Orienteering 1:00:00 [2] ***

Collecting the controls for Dad from Slievnagore with Mark and Alex, even got to play the "Ground is made of Lava"!! Went the whole way back to the car only to find that James hadn't collected the finish and I had to run up and get it :(

Orienteering race 17:00 [5] ** 3.1 km (5:29 / km)

Head to head orienteering in Kilbroney Park. Kind of like an orient show type thing, really good fun sprinting everywhere even integrated a maze inton it :) Even had a 4 man race at one stage, where some of us were told that we had to do 2 clap press ups at each cpontrols but some people decided to ignore this!!! cough Colm cough. The moved on to the maze o which was more four man racing all in the maze.

Run (Road Run) 26:39 [3] 5.56 km (4:48 / km)

Off on study leave today so thought that i would take the opportunity to go for a gentle jog around the loop before the weekend of orienteering, even brought Molly with me while she managed to run around the loop while having a rugby ball stuck in her mouth the whole time :)
