Another short outing, though this one had something I'd been thinking about for a while, a trip up North Sugarloaf. Unlike its partner just to the south, NS has no paved road going to the top, just a couple of trails. I've run them a number of times over the years, but never tried with the bike. So time to give it a try.

Up the outer loop, counterclockwise. Made it up, but off the bike I think three times to get past tree trunks across the trail, and a couple more times for hike-a-bikes where it was too rocky/rooty on a steep section for me to handle. But I got up all the places I tried to get up and all the dismounts were planned.

Went back down the inner loop clockwise. This is single-track, made it down successfully (which is real good for me), though at a slow and careful pace. I think my skills, while certainly not good, are not as bad as they used to be. Got off twice for tree trunks. One I probably could have ridden over, but chose not to try. See, once in a while I'm smart.

Glad I did it, but it's tough enough, really just too tough for me, that it's not likely to become a favorite. But certainly good to have done once.
