Friday Nov 30

trail running 1:06:20 [3]7.5 mi (8:51 / mi)
West side of Quabbin, section north of Wednesday's run, exploring jeep roads and trails, both mapped and unmapped. Dense fog. Outside edge of right foot hurting last 25 minutes, damned if I know why. Very sore later.

Wednesday Nov 28

trail running 1:10:35 [3]8.0 mi (8:49 / mi)
On west side of Quabbin with Phil. 75% jeep roads, 25% nice runnable forest.

Monday Nov 26

trail running 57:35 [3]6.0 mi (9:36 / mi)
First day of shotgun deer season. At Mt. Tom (where no hunting allowed), including Phil's loop (Lake Bray - Whiting Peak - Goat Peak- Lake Bray) in 51:35.

Sunday Nov 25

trail running 1:05:39 [4]7.0 mi (9:23 / mi)
Robert Frost trail from the Notch east to the end of the roller coaster, and back. Make the mistake of seeing how long it took last time I did this route (66:02), so of course I had to try and do better...

Saturday Nov 24

orienteering 51:29 [4]5.4 km (9:32 / km)
Mt. Tom, rain, 40 degrees. Good effort. Caught up to Abi, but then could only stay with her as long as we were going downhill. Nevertheless, fitness is certainly better than it was a month ago.

- Splits

Thursday Nov 22

trail running 1:10:35 [3]8.2 mi (8:36 / mi)

Tuesday Nov 20

trail running 1:05:27 [4]8.0 mi (8:10 / mi)
On Roberst Frost trail north of Amherst with Phil. Steady hard effort (much more so than intended, but that is why it's good to train with others from time to time!).

Sunday Nov 18

orienteering 1:35:49 [3]9.44 km (10:09 / km)
Score-O at Paugusset SF in Connecticut. My route for the 20 controls was 9.44k, 385m climb. Splendid day, nice forest, orienteered fine. By the way, the area should be remapped and used for an A meet.

Friday Nov 16

trail running 55:16 [3]6.0 mi (9:12 / mi)
Perimeter trail at Northfield Mt.

Thursday Nov 15

trail running 1:16:44 [3]8.5 mi (9:02 / mi)
Greene Swamp / Bull Hill. Longest training run for a while, feeling it.

Wednesday Nov 14

trail running 30:48 [3]3.5 mi (8:47 / mi)

Sunday Nov 11

orienteering 2:33:39 [3]14.8 km (10:23 / km)
Blue Hills Traverse, 8th overall, better than expected.

- Splits

Tuesday Nov 6

trail running 45:03 [3]5.3 mi (8:30 / mi)

Sunday Nov 4

orienteering 12:00 [1]1.0 mi (11:59 / mi)
For once a decent warm-up, in the woods, practicing compass/pace-counts, plus stretching.
orienteering 49:18 [3]6.1 km (8:05 / km)
Decent run, decent effort, a few small mistakes but nothing more than 30 seconds at a time. Fell down a lot of times, including a couple of jarring ones on the last downhill. My coordination seems to be disappearing fast!

By the way, a nice course, good variety of legs and tactics.

Splits (for Day 1 so far) are on the DVOA website.

Green-X, day 2 - Splits

Saturday Nov 3

orienteering 50:40 [3]5 km (10:08 / km)
DVOA meet at Danial Boone Homestead. Not too bad...

Green-X, day 1 - Splits

Friday Nov 2

trail running 30:56 [3]3.5 mi (8:49 / mi)
