trail running 2:05:10 [4] 14.2 mi (8:49 / mi)

Pisgah trail race, distance given as 14.2 but who knows.... Ran pretty well, felt like I was running a little stronger the last hour, probably because I passed a few people going over Pisgah Mt. and didn't want to be passed back. Nothing like a little motivation. Splits at aid stations 48:38, 1:18:37.

Vetting points for Phil's local meet at Norwattuck on Sept. 28. Probably 1/3 running, 2/3 walking.

Will Walter and Gary in the hills (lots of them!). Got pretty tired.

biking 2:09:00 [2] 34.0 mi (3:48 / mi)

Along the Maine coast south of Camden. Gorgeous day. Working hard at times, but also took plenty of time to enjoy the scenery.

trail running 1:48:20 [3] 11.8 mi (9:11 / mi)

Somewhat rocky trails in Camden Hills State Park, mostly gentle grades, plus a side trip up Bare Rock Mountain. Beautiful view of Penobscot Bay from the top. Felt ok.

biking 2:05:48 [3] 34.5 mi (3:39 / mi)

Back roads near Camden, Maine. Rolling hills, pretty tired at the end.

Thursday Sep 4, 2003 #

part trail, part road 45:00 [3]

In Camden, Maine, visiting relatives. Over to and up Mt Battie, about 800' climb. Normally a nice view of the harbor, but visibility was about 100 yards.

Wednesday Sep 3, 2003 #

biking 1:10:19 [3] 20.7 mi (3:24 / mi)

To Lake Wyola and back.

Tuesday Sep 2, 2003 #

trail running 2:03:03 [3]

With Ken, George and Lyn Walker in Pisgah SP in southwest New Hampshire. One on my favorite places to run. Thought we were going for 90 minutes but it turned out to be 2 hours so I was a little dry by the end. Nice steady pace, which meant some heavy breathing on the ups and a relaxed pace on the downs. Very enjoyable.

orienteering 36:07 [5] 4.5 km (8:02 / km)

Relay at Pawtuckaway. Suzanne ran first, me second, Will third. Finished 2nd team, pretty good.

I had a good run. Legs felt strong as long as the forest wasn't too thick and willpower was good too. Still need to push more through the brush, but this was probably the best effort of the year.

Pawtuckaway routes are at http://users.crocker.com/~pg/
