trail running 56:00 [3] 6.5 mi (8:37 / mi)

On Five Ponds map in Litchfield, CT. Bare ground, 25 degrees. Very pleasant, except my hamstring is still not well, which is why I'm running only enough these days to keep a little bit of fitness. Meanwhile, I'm trying to stretch often and properly, plus try to figure out some PT and/or cross training that might help. It's been 20 months with this thing and I'm wondering if it is ever going away.... (Had a cortisone shot in my butt -- ischial bursa actually -- which the doc thought might help, but that didn't seem to make any difference.)

Plans for 2002 --
Will likely try to go to the stuff in Alberta in July. Have been orienteering in Western Canada several times over the last 20 years and have always enjoyed it. It would be nice to be injury free for a few months before that, mainly because O' is a lot more fun when you're fit. I'm not counting on it, but one can always hope!

trail running 1:20:00 [3] 9.0 mi (8:53 / mi)

At McLean's Reservation in CT with Charlie and Rhonda. 70 minutes easy with Charlie, 10 minutes hard with Rhonda! Hamstring sore, as usual...

Sunday Dec 23, 2001 #

trail running 31:10 [3] 3.5 mi (8:54 / mi)

Sunday Dec 16, 2001 #

trail running 1:31:11 [3] 9.5 mi (9:36 / mi)

SMAC fun run with Phil and Jim Plaza in the Shutesbury hills. A couple of days of rain/fog had wiped out all the snow. Felt reasonably ok (and very much enjoyed the outing).

Saturday Dec 15, 2001 #

hike 58:30 [1] 3.5 mi (16:43 / mi)

Been sick the last several days, just out to get some fresh air.

Sunday Dec 9, 2001 #

road running 1:22:02 [3] 9.7 mi (8:27 / mi)

Back roads in Northfield, mostly just wet after 8" snow overnight. No zip.

Saturday Dec 8, 2001 #

trail running 1:30:32 [3] 9.5 mi (9:32 / mi)

With Phil, M&M trail from the base of Mt. Nonutuck to the top of the ski area, back on some of the lower trails (maybe 2000' climb overall). Croaked on a couple of the long uphills.

Maybe the last trail run on bare ground this year -- snow forecast tonight.

Wednesday Dec 5, 2001 #

trail running 1:19:36 [3] 8.5 mi (9:22 / mi)

Heavy legs..... in Quabbin again, amused myself by finding a couple of letterboxes

Tuesday Dec 4, 2001 #

trail running 1:10:28 [3] 4.8 mi (14:41 / mi)

Up Mt. Monadnock just before dark via the Old Halfway House Trail (1.3 mi, 600' climb, nice running), and the White Arrow Trail (1.1 mi, 1100' climb, a mixture of stony ground and boulder field, almost unrunnable -- on the way down, that is, obviously unrunnable for me on the way up). 39 minutes up, 31 down. 40 degrees, no ice, amazing for Dec. 4.

Sunday Dec 2, 2001 #

orienteering 1:08:58 [4] 7.6 km (9:04 / km)

At Baldwin Hill. Good effort. Right foot sore afterwards, ok during run.

trail running 10:00 [1] 1.0 mi (10:00 / mi)
