Thursday Jan 31

road running 16:39 [3]1.9 mi (8:46 / mi)

Tuesday Jan 29

road running 16:37 [2]1.9 mi (8:44 / mi)
Shins still a little tender. Don't think I made things worse....

Sunday Jan 27

Note
Took an hour and a half walk, since running seemed most likely to just aggravate my shins. Climbed two "mountains", saw a barred owl, got mentally prepared for the Patriots game.

On to New Orleans.....

Friday Jan 25

trail running 31:48 [3]3.5 mi (9:05 / mi)
Up to the power line and back, some bare ground, some ice. The usual variety of aches, plus shin splints (which haven't bothered me for years). Wonder what's next....

Wednesday Jan 23

road running 1:11:18 [3]8.6 mi (8:17 / mi)
Somewhat hilly back roads in Conway (Whately Rd., Roaring Brook, Rt. 116). Energy levels not good, not terrible.

Seemed like I had the place to myself -- only saw about 10 cars, and most of them in the last mile on Rt. 116. It's one of the benefits of living in an area that missed the technology/building boom of the 90s (the downside, of course, is that there aren't many high-paying jobs...).

Tuesday Jan 22

Note
Jury duty all day. Civil case, not criminal, and a lousy one at that, should have never gone to trial. A waste of everyone's time.

Third week in a row I've had a valid excuse to escape Phil's track workout!

Monday Jan 21

road running 35:14 [3]4.3 mi (8:10 / mi)
Old Sunland/Taylor Hill loop in Montague, starting from the W end of Fosters. Actually didn't feel too bad.

Sunday Jan 20

road running 1:20:29 [3]9.3 mi (8:39 / mi)
"Fun run" in Conway and Williamsburg. Snow covered and somewhat slippery. Had to take a break before the last steep hill, and even then only barely managed to run it.

Still celebrating Patriots win in the snowstorm...

Saturday Jan 19

part trail, part road 36:23 [3]4.2 mi (8:39 / mi)

Friday Jan 18

road running 34:57 [3]4.3 mi (8:07 / mi)

Thursday Jan 17

part trail, part road 31:02 [3]3.4 mi (9:07 / mi)
Going to try to run more often but shorter/easier for a while, see if that works better....

Wednesday Jan 16

road running 17:08 [2]1.9 mi (9:00 / mi)
Sore still from Sunday, so very gently.

Sunday Jan 13

road running 1:34:35 [3]11.2 mi (8:26 / mi)
Included the Amherst 10 mile course in 84:25. End of a small slush storm, so running was a bit sloppy, but not bad. First day of running after 3 days of pure misery going through caffeine withdrawal. Lots of aches.

Wednesday Jan 9

road running 1:05:35 [3]8.4 mi (7:48 / mi)
Around Sugarloafs. Decent effort

Tuesday Jan 8

track 30:33 [3]4.0 mi (7:38 / mi)
At the track, gently, to see if I could stress the body just a little. 4 miles at varying paces, nothing very fast. Still felt like hard work. Nevertheless, better than if I had gone early when Phil and Sidney were expecting me. Then I would have been really trashed. Fortunately I had an appointment as an excuse....

Sunday Jan 6

trail running 1:10:40 [3]8.0 mi (8:49 / mi)
With Phil and Don Grant. A variety of surfaces/speeds, including maybe 10 minutes bushwhacking trying to find a golf course. You would think that such a big control point would be easy to find, but the woods were terrible and we had no map, only a vague knowledge that the course was someplace "over there". Eventually dropped down on the 5th tee, just like we knew what we were doing.

Snow coming tonight. :-(

Friday Jan 4

trail running 30:32 [3]3.5 mi (8:43 / mi)
Usual route when I want to do the minimum, up to the power line crossing and back. Nice that there is still bare ground.

Wednesday Jan 2

trail running 31:14 [3]3.5 mi (8:55 / mi)
