Monday May 31

biking 2:08:50 [3] 35.5 mi (3:37 / mi)
Millers Falls, Northfield, Turners Falls. Modest effort going out, working harder on the way back as the wind (in my face) was picking up.

Still aggravated about my orienteering on the weekend. But it also has me thinking of ways to remedy things.

Sunday May 30

trail running 10:00 [2]
Warm up.
orienteering 1:06:04 [4] 6 km (11:01 / km) +190m 9:30 / km
ahr:153
Ran a little harder, orienteered a lot worse. Routes/comments.

Green Day 2 - Splits

Saturday May 29

trail running 10:00 [2]
Warm up.
orienteering 1:00:28 [3] 5.7 km (10:36 / km) +200m 9:01 / km
ahr:147
Lost a contact early on, so being much more careful, less of a physical effort. Routes/comments.

Green - Splits

Friday May 28

orienteering 25:38 [2] 2.2 km (11:39 / km)
Model event for the North American Champs.

Thursday May 27

biking 1:48:40 [3] 30.15 mi (3:35 / mi)
Wyola, Wendell, Millers Falls loop, good hard effort climbing up to Wendell.

Tuesday May 25

trail running 1:13:29 [3] 8.2 mi (8:57 / mi)
Robert Frost loop with Phil, reasonably relaxed pace except for working the last three ups. Still feeling a bit battered.

Monday May 24

biking 1:08:16 [3] 20.35 mi (3:21 / mi)
Old Deerfield loop.

Sunday May 23

orienteering 55:10 [4] 6.1 km (9:03 / km) +250m 7:30 / km
WCOC local meet at Pond Mt. in Kent (site of A meet last year and Billygoat several years ago). So-so run, pretty good effort except for a couple moments of (mental) weakness. Ribs still bad, but 4 Advils and the usual endorphins do the trick. Still having trouble sleeping. Routes/comments.

Red - Splits

Saturday May 22

biking 1:09:19 [3] 20.35 mi (3:24 / mi)
Old Deerfield loop, pretty flat, good steady effort.

Friday May 21

biking 55:12 [2] 15.3 mi (3:37 / mi)
Leverett loop, easy pace at first, a little more energetic at end. Feeling tired.
Ribs really hurting, seems I got another place with my face plant yesterday.

Thursday May 20

trail running 2:39:40 [3]
With Ken Walker, from BM 461.4 NNE over Putney and Windmill Mts and a bit more. No big hills but lots of ups and downs. Nice day, nice trail (not too rocky), though I did a face plant in the first ten minutes that my ribs did not appreciate.

Wednesday May 19

orienteering 45:00 [2]
Training with George at Mt. Tom, lots of stops to talk about technique. Good fun but not too strenuous, just what I needed.

Tuesday May 18

trail running 48:12 [3]
ahr:142 max:168
Jeep trail up Wantastiquet Mt. just east of Brattleboro, about 1,000' climb, plus a little bit on a meandering trail around the top. Ran the whole way, barely. Sore quads from yesterday, also feeling tired, took some will power to do (was on my way home after 18 holes with Mike Fritz, first round of the season, 89, could have been a lot worse....).
Note
I've added my routes and comments from last weekend's A meet at Sebago.

Monday May 17

trail running 1:18:52 [4]
ahr:150 max:168
Seven Sisters course from the Notch west to sister "C" (hill 855) and back. About 2,500' climb. Good effort. Got to do some good training in the next five weeks after missing a couple of weeks because of the rogaine.

Sunday May 16

orienteering 49:07 [4] 4.65 km (10:34 / km) +240m 8:24 / km
ahr:152 max:171
Day 2. Got off to a bad start, just not paying any attention and went running way past where I meant to turn in for the first one. When I did go back I got caught in some real thick stuff. At one point as I was about to climb over a fallen log in the laurel, I noticed at the last moment that there was a good-sized black snake draped all over it. "Shoo," I said, and sort of waved for it to get out of my way, but it held its ground -- it was there first -- and I decided going around the log was a better choice. Mistakes, jungles, snakes, all in the first five minutes and I hadn't even found #1 yet.
The rest of the way -- mostly in the green it seemed -- was hard work but reasonably uneventful. Overall, a good workout.

Green M - Day 2 - Splits

Saturday May 15

orienteering 1:02:42 [4] 5.5 km (11:24 / km) +300m 8:57 / km
ahr:155 max:170
HVO A meet at Sebago. Entered Green course figuring I wouldn't feel so good after the rogaine. Actually felt ok, but not so good that I felt like switching to Red at the last moment. Decent effort, no mistakes at controls but a couple of routes were questionable.

Green M - Splits

Thursday May 13

biking 1:08:52 [3] 20.25 mi (3:24 / mi)
Old Deerfiled/River Rd. loop, pretty flat. A bit more energetic.

Wednesday May 12

biking 54:44 [2] 15.3 mi (3:34 / mi)
Leverett loop. Legs ok, a couple of blisters, ribs still very sore unless I've got some Advil in me.

Sunday May 9

rogaining 9:07:00 [1]

Saturday May 8

rogaining 13:00:00 [1]
Routes/comments.

Wednesday May 5

Note
Ribs still killing me. Take that back, they're not bad as long as I don't move. Off to Arizona tomorrow for the rogaine, could be a long 24 hours. Bought a new bottle of advil just in case.
On the positive side, I will be well rested!

Sunday May 2

orienteering 1:03:40 [4] 5.9 km (10:47 / km) +330m 8:26 / km
Day 2 at Long Mountain. Routes/comments. Ribs sore but ran ok.

Red Day 2 - Splits

Saturday May 1

orienteering 1:30:12 [4] 8.25 km (10:56 / km) +310m 9:12 / km
West Point A Meet, day 1 at Round Pond. Felt terrible but others apparently were worse. Routes/comments. Bashed ribs on my lower right side.

Red X - Splits
