orienteering 36:07 [5] 4.5 km (8:02 / km)

Relay at Pawtuckaway. Suzanne ran first, me second, Will third. Finished 2nd team, pretty good.

I had a good run. Legs felt strong as long as the forest wasn't too thick and willpower was good too. Still need to push more through the brush, but this was probably the best effort of the year.

Pawtuckaway routes are at http://users.crocker.com/~pg/

orienteering 1:09:30 [4] 7.1 km (9:47 / km)

Red course at Pawtuckaway. Good run for the most part. Always in touch with the map (no more than a minute of errors), but physical effort was there at times and not there at others. Legs felt good, so it was mostly a matter of willpower. In recent years I've lacked confidence in my fitness -- offten justifiably so -- and tended to back off whenever the going got a little harder. Legs are in decent shape now, so it's a matter of mental discipline....

orienteering 14:10 [4] 1.6 km (8:51 / km)

Pawtuckaway. Mass start to determine seeding. 4th on Red course.

orienteering 12:42 [3] 1.27 km (10:00 / km)

Round 1 vs. Dennis Struble.

orienteering 12:27 [4] 1.31 km (9:30 / km)

Round 2 vs. Suzanne Armstrong. She made one small mistake, but on a short course it was enough. I was struggling to keep up, but felt stronger the moment I was ahead....

orienteering 11:57 [4] 1.34 km (8:55 / km)

Semi-final vs. Katarina Smith. Ran ok, but just couldn't keep up.

biking 3:08:00 [3] 51.3 mi (3:40 / mi)

Up to Conway, Shelburne Falls, and Colrain. Pleasant route, not too hilly, but one of those days when it felt like the wind was always in your face. Didn't push it the last hour as I was feeling tired and dehydrated. 8:35 up the hill out of Colrain (1.15 miles, 470' climb), good for me....

run/hike 1:06:32 [3] 5.0 mi (13:18 / mi)

Up Killington Peak from the main base lodge (run/hike, 43 minutes), run back (23:32). About 1700' climb. Trail a little crappy going up, came down different way mostly on gravel roads. One crash but no serious damage.

Good effort just to do it. Had just finished 18 very hilly holes with Mike Fritz (a very erratic 86), and the alternative was lunch....
