26th Billygoat, 25 years almost to the day from the first one, also at Mt. Tom. An ok run, but was tired right from the start (legs felt heavier loosening up). See comments with the splits.
My race didn't end at the finish line, however. I've been working for about five years on a project to build a new library in Sunderland, and today was the grand opening. Ribbon cutting at 1:30, then speeches and socializing. Had to be there. It's a 20-25 minute drive, add a few minutes to change clothes, and I figured I had to be in by 1 at the latest (or 2 hours running time). I must have checked my watch a dozen times, getting increasingly pessimistic that I was going to make it. Even with getting charged up to stay ahead of Clint at the end, it was 1:02 before I finished. Kept runnig to the car, stripped everything off, grabbed the clean stuff, and I was heading out the gate at 2:08. Fast as I could up 91, and I hustled up to the front of the new building right at 1:29, just as someone was saying, Where's Peter?
Hated to miss the postmortom at the Billygoat, but sometimes you have to make choices. The ceremony at the library was just right, and being there was the right choice.
Back to the BG -- a tough and very interesting course, and a place of honor in the future BG Hall of Fame for Head Goat Will Hawkins.
