Phil's Thanksgiving weekend meet, this time at Norwottuck instead of the usual Mt. Tom. And this time a straight score-O', choice of 75 or 120 minutes. Very nice event on a sunny somewhat cool day.

I opted for the 75 minutes, seemed more than enough. Got out to the ones in the SE corner, wasn't sure I'd get back in time, but that kept me moving and made it with just over a minute to spare. Good orienteering, no mistakes to speak of. Energy and coordination/agility were lacking, but not as bad as might have been.

Came close to doing some damage -- slipped at one point and landed with my mouth taking a direct hit on the top of a stump. A little lip damage, but not much, and no tooth damage, because the top of the stump was rotten wood. But I can't say I enjoyed the next few minutes trying to spit out all the rotten stuff -- I got quite a mouthful of it -- but that was a lot better than what might have been.

Good to get out.

My route.

Picking up controls (65-51-61-53-91-73-84-83-41-44-55-45-43). Outside of left ankle quite unhappy, especially when on a side slope with it the lower leg. Long walk, lots of micro route choice needed because the stakes protruded from my pack higher than my head.

At Mt. Tom, but not the usual one but the Mt. Tom in Connecticut, which I'd lived a few miles from growing up but never been up.

A brief warm-up, then up to the top, just made it without walking, then looked around a bit on top and a bit more on the way back down. Quite rocky, also quite pretty. Right foot (arch problem) is better, outside of left foot still a little unhappy.

Still spending a good bit of time at mom's. Seems like the right thing to do.

At Ratlum Mountain with Charlie and his cousin Matty. Nice to get out a little before Rhonda's feast, even if the pace was leisurely. About time to start doing a little more training, even though I'm pretty sure I can win the Superstars in my present decrepit condition, just relying on cunning, guile, and the home-court advantage.
