First exercise in a long time -- short bike ride around town. At least my weight is fine, thanks to a good bit of stress. :-)

Executive summary of my recent life:

-- Funeral service (totally non-religious) for mom yesterday at her home. Went as well as one could possibly hope for.

-- Haven't slept past about 4 am for quite a while now.

-- Four injections of some version of prednisone along my spine last Monday to see if that will calm things down.

-- Running Boston a year ago seems a lifetime away and in some other dimension.

-- As a sign of the need for new activities as old familiar ones are no longer possible, and some success in adapting, I have been invited by four older (than me) ladies to join them on a bird walk tomorrow morning, and I said I would show up. :-)

-- Been really tired. Some more sleep might help. Once I get myself sorted out between the ears, that ought to be possible.

A couple of reminders to myself for future use:

-- When I was making the first visit to the caterer a couple of weeks ago to arrange things for yesterday, and having absolutely no experience in such matters, for some reason I said to myself, "Stand up straight and be confident." It actually seemed to help.

-- When I was lying in bed yesterday morning at about 5 am thinking about the day ahead, for some reason I said to myself, "It's going to be a great day!" Said it several more times during the day. And it really helped too.
