Testing the butt. Pretty much a total failure.

Upper 50s, very little wind. Northampton, Westhampton, Huntington, although just in Huntington enough to turn around after crossing the town line.

Had to be in Northampton for a PT session and was looking for a place to ride afterwards and I remembered the local bike club had a couple of different hill climbs starting in the area. One of them was on Rt. 66, not quite 4 miles going west to the Huntington town line. Seemed like a good thing to do.

I started at Smith College so had a proper warm-up, and then got to do a little climbing. Always amazes me how I can put out what seems to be a hard effort and go so slow. 32:35 for the not quite 6 miles and up about 1,000'. Of the 182 times recorded on the route over the last decade, I missed being DFL by a mere 5 seconds. It could have been worse, I suppose (and in the future it surely will be...).

But it was another gorgeous day, and the road had been rebuilt/resurfaced sometime recently and was both good pavement and an adequate shoulder all the way.

biking - red bike 1:26:21 intensity: (4:52 @1) + (31:31 @2) + (42:28 @3) + (7:30 @4) 19.11 mi (4:31 / mi) +1864ft 4:08 / mi
ahr:130 max:158 weight:135.5lbs

Low 50s, 10NW, though didn't really feel the wind much as I was in woods/hills pretty much the whole. Sunny again.

Loop in Belchertown and Pelham, lots of up and down, and some time on the brakes going down, particularly down Gulf Road (narrow, steep, twisty, bad pavement).

Hard work but enjoyed it.

Low 50s, W5. A loop in Easthampton and Southampton, since I was down that way anyway. Always nice to have different scenery.

45F, NW 5-10. Got out early because lots of rain expected today. And did a good job picking the route -- out in the open when going south, in the trees when heading back north, so dodging some of the wind.

Need to get some warmer tights for when it gets colder.

62F, SW light. Old Deerfield - River Road, don't think I've done it for a couple of months. The little hills are still there.

Another beautiful day, though I dressed for the temperature at the start and not the finish and the temps were dropping as the sun went down. Getting a bit chilled.

===========

Went to see Moonlight yesterday evening. We both really enjoyed it -- perhaps not as much as the Times critic, we have no plans to see it a second and then a third time -- though I could imagine some people wouldn't. I sat there for two hours, no fidgeting, no checking the watch, quite entranced.

Bear in mind, not too much happens, and not too much is said. Still....

walking 55:00 [1] 2.75 mi (20:00 / mi)

In Forest Park and Fannie Stebbins. Made my first color map in FP 40 years ago...

And I must have driven by Fannie Stebbins hundreds of times without ever stopping.

To Turners Falls and back, with a few stops to take some photos. Mid-50s now seems balmy.

45F, W5. A short ride, but some hills -- 8 x Claybrook Rd (0.4 mile, 140' climb). After a couple of times up I would have been quite happy to call it a day, but I just kept at it and eventually the intended number of reps was done. Certainly made it less unpleasant by always having something in reserve.

Don't think this will be a regular ride, but it is a nice little challenge. :-)
