Masters Champs at Bigelow Hollow, Brown-Y, M75, 3.6 km.

Excellent run, went to all the controls and didn't get hurt (my two goals for the day). Though I should probably have had a third goal. After I finished, I thought I should go check NEOC's fancy new results system, easily available on my phone. Charlie and I had finished at the same time and his time was up and mine wasn't. Now what had I done wrong. After a while I remembered, oh yeah, got to download....

Very nice event. From my perspective a superb map by Carl Underwood. Good organization throughout, including a really nice NEOC 50th anniversary dinner in the evening.

Just curious how I would make out on the cross course that Alex raced last weekend at UMass. All the stuff marking the course was gone, but I had a map and in most places there was enough wear and tear on the vegetation to make the route obvious.

Drove over to Cushman, then rode over to the course, picked it up at the lower end. And a few minutes later I was at the finish at the upper end, having made at least a couple of wrong turns and skipped a substantial portion of the course.

Tried again, this time looked at the map regularly, and got the route pretty much right. And got past the barriers successfully (because they were gone) and past the logs very nicely (because I went around them). And nothing even close to a fall. And working hard it seemed, the course was far from flat. And, especially, really slow. And that was for only one lap and a little bit.

Actually, about what I expected. No need to do this again. :-)

Hemenway Road loop, ending coming up the lower part of Cave Hill Road. Better (much better?) than expected (32-33 minutes?). The plan was to walk lots but only in short bits, so I settled on 30 seconds. It certainly didn't seem like enough, but apparently it was. Altogether walked about 6 minutes.

And nothing seems to hurt. :-)

Off to the bike races in a little bit....
