North Silver Lane.

run/hike 1:10 [3] 0.1 mi (11:40 / mi) +15ft 10:12 / mi

Test #2, down to the corner of the driveway and back. Felt OK.

And another session of pulling bittersweet. Making good progress after slacking off the past couple of years because of Covid. Still a bunch to do, maybe half a dozen sessions.

Note

I think it's the first time I've had a decent look at a mink (really had no idea what one looked like). And this guy didn't give me long; in a few seconds it was underwater.

run/hike 10 [1] 0.01 mi (16:46 / mi)
weight:140lbs

Jogged the whole way, actually. Time and distance estimated. No discomfort.

Mouse count is now 15.

Note

Got the latest Covid booster today (plus the high-dose flu shot), all in the same arm. When it came to which booster to get, as both Pfizer and Moderna were available, I quickly reviewed my history --

Pfizer -- no Covid
Pfizer -- no Covid
Pfizer -- no Covid
Moderna -- got Covid

That decision didn't take long.

A nothing special run at the Holyoke reservoirs, until my right hamstring acted up, so that made it especially annoying....

At which point it seems like the best thing to do is to ask, "Well, how are the mice doing?"

And the answer, I suppose, depends on one's perspective. From their perspective I'd guess life is full of surprises (though generally only one per mouse), who knew that the tasty dollop of peanut butter was part of a trap.

Whereas from my perspective, things are going great. The current installment of our traditional catch-and-release program (as opposed to the the more modern version, the catch-and-live-release) netted its 10th mouse overnight.

We have a version of a recycling program for the mice -- the corpses are deposited by a special tree not too far from the house. Some predator must have discovered the tasty treats, because the buffet table is empty whenever I return with a refill.

Puts a smile on my face every time, and today it almost made me forget about my hamstring as I hobbled out there. Almost....
