Running 17:22 [4] 5.0 km (3:28 / km)
shoes: Inov8 X-Talon 212 #4 blue/red

Warrington PR - huge blizzard for the first 2km, lots of icy sharp corners. So not particularly quick.

Pushed on at the beginning to keep with the leader. Got on his shoulder at 1km and we worked well together staying steady for the next 1.5k. I took the lead across the field and the bends and was slightly ahead when we hit the straight tarmac to come back. At this point he put the hammer down and just went. I tried to keep with him but couldn’t hang on, finishing about 10 sec behind.

Turns out he lives in Switzerland and is a pretty handy marathon runner.

Intervals 9:00 [4] 2.4 km (3:45 / km)

3x 3mins (90) post Parkrun

More steady running as oppose to fast. Should really have been more aggressive with it but the snow made it hard to run fast.

Horrible headwind and slight head cold made this a challenge. Kept it light and easy though

Cycle Home post Work curry

Glad I had 5 pints in me to keep me warm in the hail thunderstorm that struck half way.

This was a daft idea and my hands and feet paid for it!

Wu

Feeling gritty after a heavy day on site and a long time in the car. Not motivated to get out in the dark and rain but happy I forced myself in the end

Running tempo 30:00 [4] 8.0 km (3:45 / km)

Tempo run - Moore Reserve/Canal

Found this hard. Knew it would be, kept trying to pull out in the first 5 minutes but my legs just kept going. First 10mins was well off the pace but the effort level felt right. Second 10 was through a difficult middle section to get over to the canal - too much slow going underfoot and and too many gates. Once I got on the canal and I wasn’t running into the wind both the effort and the speed felt like what I was aiming for.

Good session to get in.

Lunch time reps along the canal
1,2,3,4,5,4,3,2,1 (1min rest)

Found this a bit tough but ground it out. Head wind on the way out and forgot my socks so my feet taking a beating until the second or third rep when the adrenaline kicked in.

Really pleased to have squeezed this in over lunch - running in the light is a lot more motivating. Will try to do this more often.
