Today I became convinced the 'big loop' may actually be 2.8 like the website says. They have posts every quarter of a mile but the problem is they are not coordinated. They appear to have started in both directions which is not a big deal if the trail is 2.75...every .25 there is a post...the problem is on the backside there is one place where 2 of the posts are not quarter mile apart...AND at the beginning if I start at first post by the YMCA buildings it seems to be a bit more than quarter mile according to the splits...on first lap I had settled into a 9:45 or so pace as being pulled along by some young filly that passed me about a 1.25 of the first loop...but then the first 'quarter' split was 30 seconds off this pace then the rest of the splits were back on pace.
It's not a big deal but I either ran about 8.25 (3x 2.75) or 8.4 (3 x 2.8). I'm giving in (without changing my old log entries at least for now).
This was a big mental battle. I was a little psyched out early in the first loop thinking about doing 2 more. I had times when I felt ok then I would sag again...I felt a knot in my stomach with about half of the last loop left...I backed off and just coasted in.
Splits were 27:30; 27:00 and 27:08
