walk trot (in dark due to injury) 7:00 [3] 0.1 mi (1:09:58 / mi)
Tried to go walk a 30 min mile...when I hurt my foot a couple of years ago falling off cabinet I did a 25 min mile or so. It was obvious I could not endure the electrical-like jolts that shot through my calf ever 10 or so steps when I accidentally pushed off just slightly. Took me over 7 min anyway. I can do a mile of this today but it has to be in short segments.
I'm lifting my legs and knees and will continue to do sit-ups and leg lifts and aerobic arm stuff just to stay as toned and fit as possible and maintain my sanity too.
biking (barely about to push ) 6:00 [3] 1.0 mi (6:00 / mi)
Didn't time it. I did not coast but I also was not able to really push down much with right foot ....into wind had to push with left leg and just put enough pressure on right pedal to keep things turning...
For 30 plus years they've had people from operations get up and move...when I was six years old they kept me still for 3 days after hernia operation in Enid (yes Enid Koski...that's where Dirk/my brother was born Feb 20, 1962). The hospital I was in still is in operation (no pun...ok it's a pun) and I remember looking out window to the north...still looks the same all around that hospital.
When I had my right knee scoped 1981 they sent me home the same day. I was in a lot of pain...more than I expected for all the idiotic stories of how you barely need anesthesia and can hop off the operating table and go do a workout...
1983 2nd hernia operation and they had me get up and walk down the hall that evening. When the nurse told me this I wanted to gut her but I did it and walked about as fast I mean slow as I did just now.
Anyway my rambling was meant to convey I think moving around like I am is ok. Even with the constant 'tugs' that feel like 50K volts moving keeps things from tightening up too much. Ice and ibuprofen, aspirin and aleve also. Turmeric and horse radish also as they are supposed to help inflammation. I did refuse to eat fresh horseturds which are said to have miraculous powers too...probably because you are so sick you forget the reason you chopped down your plate of fresh turds...ok I made that up...not funny either. Poop.
