running (29 x 100 trot stride) 37:15 [3] 3.65 mi (10:12 / mi)
shoes: New Balance Trail

Went too far...should have stuck to 3.1, 5k but decided to go for 16 laps/4 miles or 32 x trot and 32 x stride....was going slower than other workouts but still felt it was doing me good. Then on #30 I felt a very minor/slight twinge in same right calf that I really pulled last Oct. I had done 14.75 lps.

I was going to trot 2.5 miles but after about 200 yards I decided not to do a OC 2.5 loop. Calf was ok physically but mentally I was too unsure and I was tired anyway. It would have been very slow.

I'm going to back off a little. I guess I wanted to see if I could get in marathon shape but I'm shelving that idea. #1 I don't know if I'll race at all. #2 I probably should just do 5k and 10k's...mostly be content to just do this training...I would love to get in shape to run fast at a 60 year old...but #1 is just getting to do my jog, walk, run and a little 'speed'.

walk trot (pooped) 1:02:13 [3] 5.0 mi (12:27 / mi)
shoes: Brooks Ghost 9

Took over 2.5 miles to get going...I finally started pumping my arms more and more...was going only about 20 - 30 yards on strides...my form was so horrible could not get going and keep speed up. Estimate did about 60 to 70 speed bursts...although until last 1.75 not able to get going.

Wow the new shoes did not feel as good as I expected...walking around in them they felt incredible...by end was getting a feel for them...it takes me forever to get used to anything new now days...I am learning to remind myself of that.

running long (time wise super long) 2:02:28 [3] 12.0 mi (10:12 / mi)
shoes: Hoka Clifton 2

Again a cool mid-60s morning with gentle northwest wind...really slow start as again kinda fearful of blowing up several miles from home...probably 12:30 first mile. Still at 12 min pace at 2.5. Never ran one quick mile in low 9's. At about 4.5 I began to run some 9:30 miles.

Time wise not sure when I last ran 2 hours. 12 miler ties for longest run since moving here 24 years ago this weekend. Not sure what my longest run in San Antonio was. Maybe 15 miles but can't remember. Not sure I've run longer than hour 45 min in over 30 years. Kinda freaky actually. Yet I feel all those miles from 1971 to 1986 are still with me.
