8 AM

golf (Kickingbird ) 10:00 [3] 4.0 mi (2:30 / mi)
shoes: Skecher Golf

warm and humid but nice day
5 PM

walk trot (warm muggy but nice) 56:27 [3] 3.5 mi (16:08 / mi)
shoes: Adidas Duramo 9

6 PM

running (6 x .5) 2:03 [3] 0.3 mi (6:50 / mi)
shoes: Adidas Duramo 9

I did two of these on grass and there may be an extra second or two (the world will never be the same for this lack of exactness).

On the third one I concentrated on LIFT LIFT LIFT instead of pushing off and my form seemed to smooth out a little more. Having said that I still looked like a giraffe that had been shot in the butt jumping over logs.

biking (trying biking again) 12:30 [3] 2.5 mi (5:00 / mi)

Held my breath about 10 times to get the ole heart pounding...I get tired/bored of biking after a few months but looking back over the years clear back to 83-84 when I bought a Puch bike for $350 I have done some quick running when I was biking.

running (OC Trail 2.5 mile loops) 50:54 [3] 5.0 mi (10:11 / mi)
shoes: Hoka Clifton 2

80 plus and very humid...it felt I was going slower and first mile was nearly a minute faster today...ran first loop minute faster...second loop ran about 30 seconds faster than yesterday. I thought about doing 3 loops...decided to see how I felt...about 2 miles in I decided 2 loops was enough. Might as well take it easier this week and hopefully be able to notch it back up again next week.

1M 11:17
2m 21:54 (10:37)
2.5 27:03 (yesterday 28:05...5:09 half mile from 2m)
3m no time
3.5 36:42 (9:39)
4M 41:36 ? not sure thought it was 41:16 but that doesn't make sense)
5M 50:54

First loop 27:03 10:49 pace
2nd loop 23:50 9:32 pace

running (OC Trail 2.5 mile loops) 52:27 [3] 5.0 mi (10:29 / mi)
shoes: Brooks Ghost 9

Slow start again. About 3:10 for first quarter. But the second lap I got going without really doing anything. Pushed a little but mostly just speeded up. It does feel like my stride/body are adjusting to the chiropractic manipulations in a good way. I did not start out dragging a leg or foot just slow...its as if the muscles are being used a little differently...at least that is what I hope.

1m 11:54
2m 22:51
2.5 28:05 first leg
3M No split but about 33:10 most likely
4M 43:11 (15:06 for 1.5 mile or 10:03 pace)
5M 52:27 (9:16 last mile)

I was watching NCAA T&F championships in Austin, Tx while warming up...right before I left for OC campus one of the announcers was talking about sprinting and said something interesting. He said most people think of pushing off with their feet when you should really be lifting your legs...that described my philosophy all along. So with about 2 mile or so to go I started thinking in terms of lifting...I didn't feel anything physically but I just decided to do this mental thing and think lift. I speeded up even more but it was not some magical feeling or moment of eureka either.

No strides today. I just managed to dodge all kinds of rain and storms...it did start to rain as I started and I drove thru a small downpour on the way so I figured the trail was flooded but it was not too bad...and even tho in the past I did not like the gravel...I'm running on it more and more and liking it. With all the soft conditions a lot of the gravel is being washed out on slopes and also pushed down into the ground making it more pleasant to run on.

For now I accept I'm just burning calories and toning muscles. The pace I'm running and the way my running stride feels I'm doomed to shuffling.

Super slow first 1.5...not sure why I go so slow 'in the neighborhood'.

1M 12:40
2M 24:20 (11:40)
3m 35:08 (10:48)
4M 45:40 (10:32)
4.5M 50:27 (4:47 half mile)

walk trot (total rest day ugh) 1:03:56 [3] 4.0 mi (15:59 / mi)
shoes: New Balance 460

Pooped out...legs and energy just not recovering so walk only. I did try to do some .5 strides but I bailed out on first one. Legs were absolutely dead. Did them for 10 days in a row...right now I'm going slower and slower. Need a little more rest this week. I pushed hard for a month.

golf (Guthrie Aqua Canyon) 10:00 [3] 4.0 mi (2:30 / mi)
shoes: Skecher Golf

Played badly. Spirits dragging.
1 PM

running (YMCA Trail) 59:33 [3] 5.5 mi (10:50 / mi)
shoes: Hoka Infinite

86 and very humid...just as I was getting rolling I began to fade due to the heat...this was a good toughner type workout but obviously slow. Golf sucks now. Running rewards for working much much harder...slowing down significantly...all I can do is shake my head in disgust...I refuse to just accept this gracefully...it absolutely pisses me off what is going on.

1M 12:08. This mile seems long to me but I guess I have to accept it...I felt I was going faster.
2m 22:48 (10:40)
3M 33:28 (10:40)
4M 43:48 (10:20)
5M 54:38 (10:50) crashing
5.5 59:33 4:55 last half. 49:00 at 4.5 so only 10:33 for last mile...figure the heat cost me 2 1/2 to 3 minutes...
3 PM

running (6 x .5) 2:05 [3] 0.3 mi (6:56 / mi)
shoes: Hoka Infinite

walk trot (shuffle n walk slow tired) 58:39 [3] 4.0 mi (14:40 / mi)
shoes: Brooks Ravenna 8

Rest day again...really really tired...some shuffling but not much faster than a really fast walk only workout. It is what it is. I am/was far more out of shape than I realized. I suspect I may have to suffer 4-8 more weeks of this before I see any real results...actually still slowing down...although Friday was great. And my slow stuff is quicker than it was...if that makes sense.
7 AM

running tempo (16 x .5) 5:49 [3] 0.8 mi (7:16 / mi)
shoes: Brooks Ravenna 8

My first quarter (of 5 x .5) was only 7:52 pace...that is still leg turn over so that is my positive spin. I decided to add on more since it was taking me longer to warm up. My form only felt good on a couple...
