9 AM

running tempo (OC Track) 11:32 [3] 1.25 mi (9:14 / mi)
shoes: New Balance 880 WB 4

1 mile of trot/stride 100 meters each...windy and I was weak and form was off...right leg back to not working...more the right knee just not bending as freely as it should at first...hard to describe. I just gutted through it.
9:54.4 for the mile

Then ran 4 x 110 yards/100 mts but I accidentally ran to the 1 mile mark instead of 440 mark so an extra 5 or 6 yards...ran 1:38.5, counting as 1:37.6...either way that was faster than I thought I could do. I rested over 5 minutes before doing this but just adding these together.
10 AM

running (OC Trail 2.5 mile loops) 31:52 [3] 3.0 mi (10:37 / mi)
shoes: New Balance 880 WB 4

One loop plus one soccer field loop.

biking 10:00 [3] 2.0 mi (5:00 / mi)

No real Zatopeks today...did a few but not really enough that it did anything positive.
2 PM

golf (Hefner north) 10:00 [3] 4.0 mi (2:30 / mi)
shoes: Sketcher Golf

6 AM

running (early run humid windy) 54:49 [3] 5.0 mi (10:58 / mi)
shoes: Hoka Mach Black/Red

This loop is probably 30 seconds long or about 5 seconds a mile...windy but cooler since going out early due to doctors appointment 8:45 (I managed to move my appointment up a week). Right now if you start your workout after 9:30 you are probably going to roast so I made myself go out earlier than normal. Of course I was sluggish first 2 miles and I wondered if I was just going to stumble along the whole way at 12 min pace as I kinda feel weak...throat got sore for about 24 hours...not real sore just enough to make me think either heat or minor virus was getting to me.

Way less blood past 36 hours...I am drinking more and more immediately after I finish workout. I try to always have something in car if an away workout and if at home I go into garage and pull out a water, juice, tea or gatorade stuff and begin to take some giant swallows just to get something into me right away.

12:25. I had no energy so was not confident of speeding up much.
23:41 (11:16 wahoo)
34:41 (11:00)
44:51 (10:10)
54:49 (10:08)

Good 'rest run' for being tired, it being early, windy, etc. My slow runs are at least a min faster so I take that as a sign of conditioning also not just pace of faster runs.

9 AM

running (neighborhood warm humid) 52:45 [3] 5.0 mi (10:33 / mi)
shoes: Hoka Clifton 2

Steady southwest wind...pretty ugly first half mile...but I gradually got going...I am doing an U-shaped half loop of 2.5 'out and back'...can run quite a bit on the grass and thus go a little quicker...on the sidewalk my feet feel leaden and stone like with little spring.

11:58
23:08 (11:10)
33:08 (10:00)_
43:08 (10:00)
52:47 (9:37)

Some Zatopeks but pretty short and infrequent. Short pickups of 10 to 20 strides after a mile or so.
10 AM

biking (Zatopeks and standing up) 10:00 [3] 2.0 mi (5:00 / mi)

I will not ride tomorrow...experiments with standing up for 5 to 10 'pumps'...seems to work legs better and offset strain on knees.

8 AM

walk trot (walk only ) 1:20:11 [3] 5.0 mi (16:02 / mi)
shoes: New Balance 460

Between heat and this latest bout of sore kidney and peeing blood/blood cots so I decided to walk...out earlier...much cooler so I need to get out by 8:30 or 9 on my running. I have sent an email to my family doc about my urinary issues. I have an appt for next Friday the 26th. Ironically after drinking tons of water and some cranberry and lemon juice things improved dramatically (I do not go to doctor much outside of yearly type standard visits...but it always seems when I go for something moments after I've set the appt I start to heal from the life-limiting health crisis).

Quite a few Zatopeks but not many of them were of long duration. Mostly 8 to 10 strides.

I also did my eye exercises where I close one eye for several seconds up to a minute or two to try to strengthen the eye.
9 AM

biking (A few Zatopeks) 10:00 [3] 2.0 mi (5:00 / mi)

10 AM

running tempo (OC Track) 9:45 [3] 1.0 mi (9:45 / mi)
shoes: Brooks Ghost 9

Ran the second half of this slower...a sign of things to come. I started to skip this as I really needed to have started at least 30 minutes if not an hour earlier. I crashed in the 5 M. Still I managed a half mile of 100's at probably just over 7 min pace...7:15 or so I would guess.

running (OC Trail 2.5 mile loops) 55:29 [3] 5.0 mi (11:06 / mi)
shoes: Brooks Ghost 9

At about 2 miles it began to look like I was going to be borderlining it...but actually it turned out a little worse than I hoped over the last 3 miles.

27:24 first lap
28:05 second loop. For how hot and humid it was and how weak I felt this was not a bad effort...I'm just not sure if this helped or not.

7 AM

golf (Guthrie Aqua Canyon) 10:00 [3] 4.0 mi (2:30 / mi)
shoes: Sketcher Golf

Actually played back 9 of National Course as the Aqua Canyon course greens had not been mowed. Really muggy but nice temp...I sweated a lot. Wore long sleeves and pants to cut down on sun exposure. Going to try out some of the UV resistant shirts that are light-weight.

As I was finishing putting on my sun screen before leaving I felt 'something' in my right kidney...soreness...sudden. Usually that is kidney stone...it is sore now...not unbearable but it may interfere with running today.

2 PM

running (neighborhood hot humid) 42:15 [3] 4.0 mi (10:34 / mi)
shoes: Hoka Infinite

Oh boy this heat...ugh. I am getting a tiny bit used to it...stupid kidney stone really bothersome today...like kicked in my back. It went away during the run but after biking and showering it 'came back'. Hopefully by tomorrow morning this kick in the butt feeling will at least be gone.

Trot/walking about 150 yards or so to loosen up some...probably knocks 15 seconds off my time. Did a few Zatopeks first mile only.

11:50 (slower and I thought I might not be able to break 44/11 min pace avg by much)
22:34 (10:44) I was jumping up on the grass and doing pickups of 10 to 20 strides.
32:37 (10:03)
42:15 (9:38...in the heat this was good)
3 PM

biking (A few Zatopeks) 10:00 [3] 2.0 mi (5:00 / mi)

I'm going to cut back to about 3 days only of biking...right knee slightly sore and puffy/biking is good for me on a very limited basis. Usually at first I can go 4-6 days a week but I always seem to get a sore knee...I believe the biking does help knees also but only if done on limited basis.

Sunday Jul 14 #

6 AM

walk trot (Lots of Zatopeks) 1:21:13 [3] 5.0 mi (16:15 / mi)
shoes: Adidas Duramo 9

Decided I needed a little longer walk. I may do this most Sundays now...5 or so rather than 4. We'll see. Hard to plan at this age. Nice morning.
