Did not trot until 1.2 or so...never went more than 75 yards and mostly half of that or less. Playing golf so want to avoid heat this afternoon...going to get up early tomorrow walk again then head for the farm.

Dad is 84 tomorrow and Mom is 82. I have young parents. Dad has a mild case of brainitis...slowed thinking which has caused him to have no motivation for life...Mom is much less active...having said that she is still going, keeping home cleaned, shopping, and generally being pretty active for 82 years old.

Did my eye closing 'exercises' first 3 miles along with Zatopek breath-holding. Last 2 I started to do some short stride pickups...10 to 30 yards..mostly 15 to 20 yards. Probably did about 12-15 of them.

About 5 degrees warmer today...around 85/86 H. Index 91...but heat got to me some anyway...about 8 to 9 days ago 112 and 110 H.I....I did not run whole way...mostly walked with some trotting and some strides but I would have thought I would be a little tougher to conditions today.

Last 100 yards my stomach knotted up where I start to gag and if I do not slow dramatically I'll throw up either before finishing or just as I finish...of course today of all days someone was sitting on the bench at the start/finishing point so I had to try to gag less and at least look less like a gagging idiot than I did...probably lost at least 10 seconds...the world will end now as we all know it.

Much cooler but very humid...little wind. I had only run once without stopping and that was barely under 13 min pace due to heat. I started slow but just kept plugging away...took until 1.5 miles before I started to speed up...

I caught up to the 'Mennonite Family' with half mile to go. They were all walking today...it sprinkled off an on...the little kids can keep up with mama and daughter when they are on the bikes so my guess is that it was too slick to be safe so they just walked. Mom and daughters wear long skirts to nearly ankles no matter how hot it is...or cold. There are about 8 of them I guess...never counted.

When running they can go 10 to 11 min pace at times and probably average 12 to 13 minutes on average. Those are just guesses.

This may seem slow but I was shooting for 55 and hoping not to go slower than 58. Barely sped up between one and two and half way split was 28:50 or 30+ seconds slower than the slowest time I thought I might run....but second half 25:38 which was minute 15 faster than I thought I was going to run as I finished first lap.

All the above made for interesting day.

Super hot again but probably slightly cooler. Only a little trotting first mile mostly walk. Again started out to walk only but the heat makes it impossible to run the whole way (for me at least) and I don't really want to walk about hour and four minutes or so for 4 miles so by adding some trotting and strides cut off 10 minutes today. Strides were mostly about 20 give or take five. Probably about 20 of them.

Walk up until 4 miles then I began a little trotting and last quarter mile I even did a few 10 to 15 yard 'surges'...
