shoes: Hoka Bondi 8 grey/red-orange

Felt better. Hoping the slightly longer run (for current time being) would sweat out more poison. Hacking and coughing much of the way. Same sensation of a feeling of strength and weakness at the same time. No speed strength but I felt like I had a 'plodding along' strength that was good.

Drills afternoon: Not everything but the core, bands, PU, weights, etc that are the more important drills. Need a little more stretching and need to do more of the standing leg drills to keep legs 'loose'.

Still not 100% strength...feel like about 85% or so. Another storm came rolling in...last 100 yards splattering of large drops but did not really rain until after I got home. Odd feeling of weak but strong the past few days. Due to all the walking in Orlando and golfing overall leg strength is good even though not that many long runs...mostly 5 milers or less... some 6 and 7 milers. Believe I did one 8 miler since spring.

With storm suddenly coming in and wind at my back able to do short surges of 10 to 20 strides...after that risked going into oxygen debt and having to slow too much. Today I felt almost out of breath first mile...I wasn't but it seemed like I was borderline...whatever...not sure how to label the feeling.

Played ok. Mental errors. Ole John ran his electric cart (walking 'caddy' cart ) into not once but twice. He felt bad about it (remote controlled) did I...haha... :-)

Still not 100%. Improved vastly over 2 days but no improvement past 2 days. Really weak trotting along. Was running about 45 seconds per mile slower than the hard effort I was giving. Hopefully sweated out more poison.

Ran 1.05 mile further than yesterday averaging same pace.

I was wiped out all evening. Combination of lingering allergies, the meds for same and the heat. Not used to heat yet and my old heat toughness from 70's and early 80's is definitely fading away more each year.

Actually over half of the run there was rumbling overhead and very very light sprinkling. Had dodged some near misses in past year but this time it kept building up. I did see another runner with 3/4's mile to go. By then I had been running quicker than I felt like (not that quick)...made it in without getting drenched but within 10 minutes some moderate storming went on for over 5 minutes...

Afternoon did about 20 min of core drills, etc.

Feeling better. Took no meds except ibuprophen in the evening. It rained from 6 to 8. Course wetter than expected...played ok except for 4 holes.

Really have not shaken the allergy/sinus 100%. Way better than two days ago. Today was rest day and also golf day.

90 by the end. Not heat tough yet so affected me more than it 114 that's life. Played pretty good.

Monday May 20 #

Took Zyrtec yesterday and also generic version of eye allergy Pataday yesterday and saw vast improvement. The Z med was before noon and the eye med was at 10 last night. My eyes were clouding up and felt like there was sand or salt in them and around them. The drops cleared things up 95% right away.

This morning was best I felt back to before leaving Orlando...but I felt terrible the first mile. Surprisingly it was a minute quicker than average slow first mile. Also first half impeded by SE breeze that was tough.

1st 2.5M: 35:00.... 14:00 pace
2nd 2.5M: 27:47... 11:06 pace...last mile exactly 10 min.

Mowed grass/edge front and back 40 min. Warm...not hot. Wind wilder at that time. Drills afternoon: everything. 45 minutes.

Sunday May 19 #

Slightly less energy today but about the same pace but did have a slight headwind most of second half probably accounted some for the slower overall pace.

Last 4M was exactly 50:00 or 12:30 pace.
