running hills (Weatherford James Place) 55:17 [3] 4.1 mi (13:29 / mi)
shoes: Hoka Gortex ATR 7 Challenger

Stayed the night at James Kaits. She is on bachelorette trip down in Texas. Jogged Weatherford and realized how I had forgotten how hilly a place it was to run. Of course I’ve driven on the roads but it’s different trotting along. I like hill training and these are still not excessive but enough to work your legs. One stretch
was half mile uphill.

It was steeper than hills in my area but I was pleased with strength I felt in legs even though pace not quick. Guesstimate on distance. Should be close. Might car measure late.

Warm and windy. Had a great time. James and I played well. We played with Oscar Ramos SWOSU strength coach and the athletic director Todd Helton. Everyone contributed. We were upper half in team placement. Left hip still seems tweaky even tho it held up fine. We used riding carts but I walked a lot.

Couple of male joggers...both looking like they were going slow and of course going faster than me. But they helped me to get going. I need 'speed power' not just jogging power. Hilly 7M course added .55 to it.

1st 4.05M: 50:25.... 12:27 pace
last 3.5M: 38:36.... 11:02 pace
Last mile about 10:15.

This was getting close to one of those workouts that is too much...I could feel the effects an hour later growing but they leveled off. Early in summer heat I often have a 'heat stroke' type breakdown from long hard workout. Guts sometimes twist up and get migraine like headaches. Stomach/guts were starting to knot up but lucked out and leveled off. No headaches.

Past two days I've started trotting step one and found it was as easy or easier than starting out walking and taking a quarter mile or so before trotting steadily along.

Recovered enough to do some evening drills...not all and mostly way fewer reps or time.

Hot and humid. Played well at first but we all flamed out in the heat.

First sub 12 min pace of 5 miles or longer in awhile.

1st 3M: 40:00 ... 13:20 pace...
2nd 3M: 31:24... 10:28 pace...last 1.5M 10:00 pace

shoes: Hoka Clifton 8 Brite Blue

Sluggish feeling but pace was 'quicker' from start...did not feel like I was going to speed up a lot the second half but I managed with great effort to push in the last 2 miles.

1st 2M: 30:00... 15:00 pace
2nd 2M: 21:50... 10:55 pace...last mile about 10:00. Hopefully the heavy legs is from the humidity.

Windy, wet and cloudy...played ok nothing great...need to putt better.

(rest day) shoes: Hoka Bondi 7 Lite Blue

Still no speed in legs until end of workout...but for a slow rest day this was fine. Nice temp...moderate south breeze. Enough to get your attention going into it but not brutal soul breaking wind.

1st 2M: 30:40... 15:20 pace...
2nd 2M: 23:16... 11:38 pace...last mile 10:40...

45 min all drills afternoon.

running tempo (Slow pace but hard effort) 1:21:57 [4] 6.0 mi (13:40 / mi)
shoes: Hoka Gortex ATR 7 Challenger

Just like last weekend. Run less on Sunday but way slower pace with an effort that is actually harder than prior day.

1st 3M: 44:15... 14:45 pace...
2nd 3M: 37:42... 12:34 pace...last mile about 11:15...had to run with sub 10 min pace effort to get that 11:15. For the effort extended I should have averaged 12:34 pace for the entire run...but I'm getting in some slightly longer runs now.
