Note

Have finally been referred for an MRI on my ankle. Took a while to get there and was extra complicated by my normal Dr being away, and some confusion about the metal staples I have in my sternum. In fact the Dr couldn't believe I still had staples in there at first. But believe me I know, they're little figure 8s and they stick out, sometimes irritate the skin, feel horrible, and stop my scar from flattening and looking nicer!
Anyway the MRI clinic called me to ask me to check what kind of staple they were...so I read through all my hospital reports again (not the nicest reading, details of the op and recovery). But nothing in there on it. Guess they had slightly more important stuff to write about. So i got my Drs office to call riks hospital to try and get an answer, (figured that was easier than me doing it in Norwegian) but they couldnt get a clear reply either...turns out noone but the surgeon really knows what's in my sternum? So in the end I think the MRI centre called riksen and got an explanation. In any case, I've been cleared as OK for an MRI. Who k ows when it will be, hopefully next week as time is getting short before woc.
Hopefully it goes OK. I mean, I want the staples removed sometime, but preferably not by being ripped out during an MRI!

Orienteering 45:00 [3] 5.2 km (8:39 / km)

Woo! Look at me! In terrain! With a map!
Marika and Sabine were heads out training so thought I'd tag along and see how my ankle feels in terrain. Went surprisingly OK. Was soft underfoot and I didn't have any major tweaks at all. Some aches here and there but overall positive. Makes me more willing to give the middle on Sunday a try anyway. Although I didn't really understand the mapping today, and I had no energy thought the terrain...one step at a time I guess!
Other highlights include having a moose run alongside me (but a safe distance away) on #1. And having to redirect a car load of swiss to where the parking was after they couldn't find it. Amateurs at navigation I tell you ;)
6 PM

Ellipse 45:00 [2] 10.0 km (4:30 / km)

10k on the ellipse. Whatever that means.

Have noticed my gym attire is different from most girls. I need a pair of tights that goes to at least 2cm above my belly button to accentuate my bum. Combined with a top that is somehow short enough that there is a gap between it and my tights. Will put it on my shopping list this weekend

WU

Strength and Conditioning 22:00 [1]

Ran short of time before my Dr appointment. Still catching up on a large deficit of sleep and energy, so late mornings.
5 PM

Biking 1:45:00 [2] 35.0 km (3:00 / km) +550m 2:47 / km

Over to Ertemarka and mainly around the gravel roads. A km or so of single track maybe. Then home via the fortress where Allsang på grensen was in full swing, so had to do some detour squiggle work to get around it.

Ellipse 42:00 [4] 9.2 km (4:34 / km)

Incl 5x2min-1min intervals, but felt progressively worse and worse, so cut it short at 5 and struggled through a 10min wd. Putting it down to tiredness and stress but boy it felt awful. Chest and stomach pains giving bad memories.
5 PM

Mtn Biking 1:11:00 [3] 21.75 km (3:16 / km) +340m 3:02 / km

Up to høiås and 4 x round. Feeling worlds better than this morning physically, but still not 100%. Have scrapped the HR monitor for now, but some decent level of effort going into the uphill and reps around the høiås loop.

Running 32:00 [2] 6.0 km (5:20 / km)

Time to test the ankle out. Up the gravel track to say hi to the sheep at Eklimoen, then home via lysløpa. Fine on uphills but twingy on the downhill and looser gravel. Some way to go yet then...

Note

Last day. Everyone is smashed. We got slower and starting making mistakes, so made the executive decision to cut the line short.
All in all we measured a 3950m ERT/IP line up and over a massive hill, through steep and rough forest, a couple of more-than-steep stream gullies, a fair bit of jungle, a farm where the farmer seemed to be chasing us with his combined harvester (starting cutting the grass before we were even out of the fields). Never measured but would estimate I hiked 12-18km a day up and down the line, often with some kind of equipment to carry (one cable and reel is 25kg and we had 10 of them down at any one time, and 6 to move between measurements. I tried to leave the heaviest work to the guys, but that's not always possible)
