Hiking 2:00:00 [0] 8.0 km (15:00 / km) +500m 11:26 / km

Walk up to the granite tors from Orroral tracking station with uni friends. Steep as track up, but amazing rock formations at the top. Others all stayed on track (boring), but I had a good explore of the rock labrynth. Would be so cool to make a micro-sprint map of the rocks. Make everyone hike 4km and 450m climb to get to the map ;) Definitely reckon people would bekeen!

Note

I have entered the Majura 2-peaks 20k race on Sunday. Then realised it starts at 7am...what have i done?!

Running warm up/down 12:24 [3] 2.39 km (5:11 / km) +60m 4:37 / km

WU to the top of CSIRO

Orienteering 11:00 [3] 2.25 km (4:53 / km) +50m 4:24 / km

Sprint course around CSIRO. FIrst part of the men's course from Sprint Canberra 2013. Still a top class sprint area, but needs a complete remap, with a whack of small buildings gone, a couple of fancy new big buildings built, and one big building demolished.
The latter most caused me problems as it was the 4th in line of 4 buildings, and was so cleanly demolished and replanted with grass that I didn't notice it was gone...just navigated to the last building and went from there haha. Only realised something was off 2 controls later...

So apparently my sprint techniques need a bit more work still in the lead up to China!

Running 20:00 [3] 4.0 km (5:00 / km) +20m 4:53 / km

Run back to ANU incl 8x30:30, first 4 were pretty straight, second 4 were twisting and turning around the buildings and paths of ANU, trying to get some agility in there.

Running 1:28:00 [3] 15.8 km (5:34 / km) +450m 4:53 / km

semi-long run from Bianca's, through Majura W, up to the spur and along to the top of Ainslie. THen a hard slog back home.
Met two more echidna (one possibly the same as yday), much more shy today. I love how they dive face first into patches of grass when you run past. It's decent camo, but they make so much noise doing it that it's kinda redundant! Also lots of roos with heavy pouches. cute.

Body is still clearing out gunk. Taking its time,

Back to the burra. Jog up on Majura. Stopped for a good chat with an Echidna.

A couple of days chilling in the mountains with Tessa. Drove up to Razorback ridge (cheating, but ehhh). Lovely jog along the ridge amongst the patches of snow, until the cloud came in and we decided to turn for home. Bit of a shame, but I don't think Tessa would have let me go all the way to Feathertop anyway ;)

aaaand, sore throat is back! woo!
A pretty varied map today. Once again thrown straight into the green stuff to begin with. Just took it slow, and after the first couple of controls we were into more familiar stuff. Nice big open bare rock and cliffs through 3-4, before into mroe open stuff 5-9. Rocky slopes 10-13, and then I unfolded the map and saw the climb involved in the last bit :(
longer leg to 14, with a guts up the hill. 16 was the tricky techincal control, hidden amongst masses of rocks and mtn bike tracks. Took it very slow and careful, before opening up the legs again once I got it.
Got a very nice reception into the finish chute and had time to give mum a high-5 (she wasn't too happy with my attempted hug - she just wanted me to finish haha). And nice to be greeted behind the finish by dad, who felt left out and wanted a hug ;)
Good week all round, despite this grotty cold. Hopefully I can get rid of it
completely before China!
