From Xilokastro explored tracks aiming east. Met a locked gate, turned back, then hanger broke off! Headed home, luckily nearly all downhill.

Naxos. Rented mountain bikes. Cycled up through pretty Melanes, onto tracks to Flerio to look at the kouroi.
On up the road to Kynidaros for coffee in a little cafe by the main road watchng all village life going on around us.
On tracks over to Agios Artemios valley. Tried to follow a path (on the map) which degenerated into an olive terrace. Persisted across the river and hauled the bikes up a very rocky hillside. Kept being pushed further up by a high fence, after about an hour battered through to the path.
Then a long search for the path to Eggares, which we now weren't sure existed. Some olive farmers confirmed it did exist, but it still took a while to find. Lovely once we got on it though, mostly cyclable path down an uninhabited gorge to Eggares. Then roads to Chora.
