Orienteering race 32:54 [5] **** 5.0 km (6:35 / km) +104m 5:58 / km
spiked:13/15c shoes: Jalas FLX

JK relay.

Felt yesterday in my legs but I went for it today. Caught Ivan just after the start kite, he put on a huge burst and then got lost. I got 1 & 2 spot on. missed 3 a little and then 4 but i caught myself and pulled it back together. Saw Andrew heading up the hill to 6 and I tried to catch him. Gained a little on the way to 7 but i went the wrong way around a depression and lost sight of him again. Came through the spectator just behind Laurence but couldnt make any ground on him through the fast town place. he missed 13 a little and i got closer but didnt have any more speed in the legs to pull him in that last bit.

great run, less than 30secs time loss, just need more speed

JK middle

Picked up the map and tried to decide on a oroute choice to 1. in the end i picked left along the indistinct track and it turned out well since the whole depression was burned and runnability was great.
going to 2 i just tried to get into the detail of the map and picked off the features so then i knew exactly where 3 was going to be.
i aimed for the big hill on the the way to 4 easy to take the control from there.
Then i saw the IL Tyrving guy who started 2 mins ahead of me leaving 5 so i tried to push it a bit more. was a bit tired up the hill to 6 but got the control. bad route choice to 7 lost a few seconds . 8->9 i kept right and avoided the deepest heather, 10 and 11 were pretty handy.
I was feeling tired then so i wanted to go around to 12 but it was higher than i thought so it wasnt the nest choice. then left 12 slightly wrong direction. just trying to run then until 17 and i was suffereing. decided to go around the hill to 18 but read the map completely incorrectly. ran through the gap straight to 18 accidentaly thought this is weird looked aorund couldnt make sense of it, didnt see the control! so i started to run along the hill. i noticed i was too far south so i truned around and back to the control and then realised what i had done and took off to 19. saw IL tyrving guy again on the way to 20. was pushing just to try cathc him but couldnt quite do it.

overall quite happy. silly mistake on 18 though but i know how to stop it

Orienteering race 17:44 [5] **** 2.4 km (7:23 / km)
spiked:25/28c shoes: Asics 3020

Sprint-O in Stranmills.
1 was easy.
had no plan for 2 so i came out of one and then started to run up the road but then changed my mind and went through the gap. lost 10 secs
read my descriptions for 3 and saw it was on the far side of the wall so i went around to the left. got to the wall looked around didnt see the control saw one above where i thought it should be so i ran back around to that. wrong control, saw 3 under the wall so i ran back to 3. lost at least 30secs
got into the flow of sprint again then and was getting all the controls really well. even saw the little gap into 11.
up the hill to 15 i was hurting. slowed a lot for 16. tried to pick it up again but stryggled up the hill to 20 and brain was a mess tring to go to 21 and i started up the wrong alley thing. andrew caught me at 24 and we ran the end together.
