Bit behind on the logging. I'll update today. Nice sleep that was very needed

Running (off-road) 1:30:01 [2] 15.61 km (5:46 / km) +61m 5:39 / km

Nice easy cruisy run on mostly small trails in Lunsen. Felt smooth and had a great time. Forest was super wet and I picked a route that went via a potential control that was still out. I found the control but the side effect was that I ran along a ski track through an open marsh. It was horrible, just shin deep about 1 degrees water. Lovely again after that, though did come across an "ongoing hunt" sign from the opposite was than it was pointing which was a little worrying!

Easy BBA with Kate, heading mostly south from KG and looping back up. Attempted a little foray into NĂ¥sten but quite wet on the tracks. Nice morning for it before the planning day.

Warm up before Rodhenloppet, bit random. Everyone is walked to the start but they don't tell you where it actually is so back and forth trying to follow quickly. Then I didn't really know what the start time was so trying to get the HR up without going too far away.

RohenLoppet with Kate - Mix Long - Livelox - 6th

We were a bit unsure before the start what was going to happen and said we'd just do our own thing and see what happened. That worked well for about 30s, when we found ourselves in a lovely train with some of the favourites. Probably not the perfect route to 1 but I was happy to stay with the group. Ran a bit more on the road than others but then in and nice group. Over the next few controls we worked our way up until we were in 3rd place on the long leg to 4. Olle/Hilda had a bit of a gap but Gustav/Sarawere just in front.
Still 3rd by the butterfly but a decent gap behind and I started to think a little about the result. Olle/Hilda were increasing the gap but having some small misses so we stayed pretty much in contact until 10 (Gustav/Sara had the other ordering). On the way to 11 my headtorch fell down on top of my face for no apparent reason and focus was gone and I got a bit worried as I tried to fix it. Control was easy so no problem.
At this point Kate wasn't doing any map reading and we were pushing quite hard. It was essentially the first control I really had to do solo but I was not thinking about orienteering at all really. Nearly lucked out, got well within the circle. Crossed the ditch, noted it, decided it wasn't important and continued only to be utterly lost :( Bad relocation led to an approx 3:30 mistake.
Bad route choice to 13 then as I had lost confidence a bit. Got the control fine.
Discussed briefly the route to 14 with Kate and she was happy to go straight which was good as it quicker. Kate saw Erik/Ulrika in front of us then and we pushed hard to try and catch them. Hammer fest of a run-in part and just pipped them, though still behind Rasmuss/Malin.

At the end of the day it was a really fun race. I don't often get to be in that position in Sweden and it got to my head a little. Combined with not having done much oing, especially nightO I was a bit rusty.
Positives to take though, we really were in a position to fight for the win, physically was in top form, Kate a was a great partner and we monstered the end part.

Cool down loop with Kate. Still a grand warm evening in the end. Getting slowly more and more pissed at the mistake.

Very tired today after quite a late night then up earlyish to fly back to Uppsala. Motivation to get out the door was low and I delayed about an hour but got out and enjoyed myself. Regina reckoned it was really cold out and I ended up wearing too much clothing. Seem to have lost my HRM.

Run from Kilmashogue with Colm M, Colm H and Roisin. Fun evening, nice to catch up with people. Worked a bit on the hills and put in a decent effort on the climb up Fairy Castle. Felt alright, happy enough with that.

15' easy, 25' steady, 20 easy
Was pretty tired feeling after a long day at a conference for work, standing and networking is tiring. Low motivation but got out and was grand. Went out poolbeg way towards south wall this time. However unlike yesterday it was dark and evening time. Coupled with it being Halloween and thus meeting a parade, there being lots of people out in dark places doing shady things, fireworks and my chosen route made this a bit uncomfortable for most of the easy parts. Didn't really sell Dublin as somewhere to live again. The effort was good though. Felt nice and smooth, getting rid of a few cobwebs and bang on target pace.

Woke up really early for no reason and felt really awake. Thought about it a little but then decided why not just go for my run now as sure what else could I do, breakfast at the hotel wasn't to start for another hour. Headed north with a great sunrise over the sea, that was totally photo worthy had I brought my phone. Tide was in which makes the Clontarf waterfront much more pleasant. Went as far as the Bull wall and turned around. Few people still out in their halloween costumes, but generally very quiet on the bank holiday.
