Note
(rest day)

Travel home :(

Up early and was feeling quite run down so took the day off running. Bit of time on the sofa but then had to get on the IOC planning.

Note

Had loads of time to get to Oslo. Left at the same time as everyone else but had a stop in Honnefors for hot chocolate and a waffle and another stop at Kalvoya to charge the car and go for a little walkabout. Nice spot. Saw some people hopping in the icy sea from a sauna.

Stayed with Roisin for the night in Oslo. Ruairi came by and we went for a run in the local forest. Very nice and good opportunity to catch up. Pretty icy in a lot of places. The Roclites were good, but not as good as spikes. Managed to not fall at least.

Last day :(

Nice morning and took a new route up the hill. Wasn't feeling massively fresh but tipping away all the same. As we got higher it got colder and more windy though until we crossed a ridge and were faced with a horrible headwind blasting snow into our faces. We met some of the other crowd and chatted for like 1 min but it was too cold to stay longer. Was then a bit of a struggle over the top and not the most fun I had this week. Eventually we got to a little hut for lunch and the sun came out a bit which was very pleasant.

Post lunch was down into the forest where the wind had blown many pine needles into the tracks which were thus super sticky, but also the snow had melted and frozen so also it was icy and slippery. This wasn't fun either. At the end of this section I put on new wax with Marcus and then my life changed. I could kick and glide again! I flew the last bit and was delighted with the extra loop we did and put in a bit of an effort to catch the people on the shorter one and then did a little more to get up to 25k!

Note

I was on duty to bring the skis back to the rental. Had no issues with the bridge this time... No more sledding as needed to keep my shoes dry for travel. We did finish the jigsaw eventually though.
