Running 31:36 intensity: (46 @1) + (52 @2) + (4:08 @3) + (25:20 @4) + (30 @5) 5.32 km (5:56 / km) +21m 5:50 / km

10k race that friends wanted to enter, I thought the course looked ridiculous with all the corners but figured I could do it as a tempo run. Unfortunately there was none of the self seeding that normally happens at the start of a race so I ended up doing a load of sprints to get round people during the first km. As expected the course was ridiculous, it was impossible to get into a rhythm with that many changes of direction. My legs felt heavy from the start, I think I was still feeling the two sets of hill running this week and the bloated feeling I had on Friday has now escalated into full blown permenant heart burn so I decided to cut it short at 1 lap and just do 5km.

Am at home being fitted for a bridesmaid dress. Mum and the dog both injured so I took myself out for a little jog around what used to be an easy loop. Turns out someone has put a hill in the way (it was definitely only a small bump when I was younger). It was still a lovely jog, just a bit harder than I remembered, although at least you get fun downhill after the upwards slog. The rain managed to hold off until I got home so I didn't end up too muddy. I did however feel really bloated the whole way round, which I don't really understand as I'd left it 2.5 hours after lunch.

Went to the early spin session because I was jumping on a train home mid-morning. Felt very hard today and it seemed difficult to get my heart rate up. I think my body isn't particularly keen on early morning pre-breakfast workouts.

Swimming 33:56 [4] 0.95 km (35:43 / km)
ahr:120 max:147

Warm up 100m breaststroke, 100m crawl focussing on technique, 100m breaststroke. Speed test: 3*100m crawl trying to go as fast as I could but also trying to get consistent splits, did 2:05, 2:05, 2:07 with efficiencies of 41, 42 and 43 respectively so nice and consistent but not very fast. I now have a book of swim workouts so I can train with some focus rather than just making it up when I get in, hopefully this will lead to some speed improvement. Ended up doing a 50 in the middle as someone joined the lane and set off just in front of me and there was no room to overtake. Did same as warm up to cool down.

Running hills 41:19 intensity: (5:59 @1) + (6:53 @2) + (15:45 @3) + (11:36 @4) + (1:06 @5) 4.29 km (9:38 / km) +151m 8:11 / km
ahr:152 max:164

SLOW training session, we decided to take on hills, oh my word this hurt. The plan was to go up hard, jog down and only time the ups doing 3 sets of 7min up. After the first set we decided to switch it to 7min, 4min, 7min which I was quite happy with because my lungs felt like they were on fire at that point. Had to keep stopping my watch to keep track of the time so only recorded pace and HR on the ups, did some trickery in SportTracks to get full session time.
