This morning's training was a timed 5km rather than circuits. I was concerned that everyone might set off too fast so I kept in the middle of the group but then it became clear that we were only doing 6min/km so I overtook everyone and aimed for 5:30/km. Felt fine until 3km then had to start pushing a bit but I actually sped up over those last 2km which is quite pleasing. Weather was a bit muggy even though it was early, looks like we're in for another hot day. I think if I'd pushed the pace right from the start I could probably have gone a minute faster, one day I will make it to a Parkrun and see what I can do over 5km in a race situation.

Note

Crazy busy week trying to get things sorted before the Scottish so not much time for training. I managed to write a whole paper in the past week so am quite pleased with myself, now working on finishing the corresponding thesis results chapter.

Actually went to bed early enough to get up for circuits, felt great and energised immediately afterwards but ran out of energy by 4pm and had to have an afternoon nap.
