target on this loop is 60-64, so just snuck in to avoid an OVT. Legs felt horrible, and testing the WSJs recommendations of Chilean wines the night before probably didn't help.

If its any solice, I suppose this is indication that yesterday's intervals were as hard as they felt ... or, more likely, I'm just old, worn out, and slow
weights (up bod) 25:00 [3]
coursesetting 45:00 [1]
fair hill stumble - checking routings, start/finish/transition, and a couple of locations close in.

The park's new multifloria sterioids initiative seems to be working in a big way to await those inclined to make more dubious route choices ...

... while some of the sweetest forest in the Mid-Atlantic await the rest of us

first evening run in ages. Felt like I smoked it and was quite disappointed with the time. Should have done TNT if I was to run at nite, tho I didn't feel like putting them thru another SAR experience ...

never been down there with the grass so high. I wonder if they mow it before 10/1.

Friday May 12

running (trail/XC) 49:14 [3] 10 km (4:55 / km)
misery loop 3

Aside from the usual herds of desensitized-to-the-tourists deer, saw a fox out there today. That was pretty cool.

I've never seen anyone naked on mt misery, but I have encountered a couple of bizarre occurrances. One is this dude that goes pretty far off-trail and plays the bagpipes (he's actually quite good, but it is sort of bizarre to just hear this in the forest, because unless you're an off-trail guy, you never find the source).

Another is the time I ran thru the set of a photo shoot of a nearly naked, attractive underwear model. I'll bet they were more surprised than I was.

blew off intervals again this week. Got to the park just before 7 and it was way too beautiful to waste this day on intervals when I could gallop around Mt. Joy and touch into my primal evolutionary-honed love of grasslands/savanna looking things, so that's what I did. Actually found gear 4 for the last 3K, which means I was pretty lazy for the first 9, I suppose. I felt good enough for a PR today, but forgot I was supposed to be training until the end.

Instead, I was thinking about digital cameras, and I suppose its time to get one. And I'm thinking I do have a nice flim SLR but would really love the convienence of digital, as apparently they are good enough now, but I don't want to settle for a point-and-shoot, because using an SLR all my life, it would seem tough to go back, wouldn't it, and the entry level SLRs are $800 and don't seem to be good enough, so we're talking a minumum of $1300 for a decent digital SLR, and that doesn't include the glass, and its like geez, I need new running shoes also. Why does life have to be so complicated?

Well, I assume the google ads will point me to the camera I should buy. That would make life simple, wouldn't it?
