Feeling major depressed and quite unmotivated this morning, only managed to make it to the park by a slothful 10:30 (not that there's anything wrong with running late, I just tend to enjoy the sunrise the most). This is the first time I can remember lacking motivation in a long time. Slow going until a little spunk in the last part when I feared I would not break 2 hours. Had a long discussion with Clare yesterday, at least I feel I articulated my concerns as best I could. Unfortunately, the concept that some people may be unwilling to donate their time for free to commercial enterprises simply doesn't seem to resonate. Perhaps it is an Internet thing, where that concept is de rigeur in the Internet culture; everything freer than everything else, except for commercial use. Lisa Carr and Greg Lennon (on the USOC web site) acknowledge the concept in their comments, so I am not totally loopy, but in USOF I am an outcast, and so it goes. Which is fine, iconoclasts need not apply. I only have so much time in my life, and I'd prefer to donate the charitable component to real charities. Its not rocket science. To each his own.

Those attending may want to pay attention to that eating thread, as I am shooting for 17:55 for M21, under the logic that it is an IOF sanctioned race, and therefore the WT should be in the 12-15 range for top-ranked IOF runner, not top-ranked USOF runner. Still undecided, but I think the terrain can be used better that way. So, eat an extra beefburger due to the longer course. Rumor has it that the sanctioning chair is uncomfortable with this line of thought, but that the ESC chair is ok with it. We are also strongly considering setting middle distance for non elite courses (ala Zermatt, again still undecided; which may mean M50 runs the M21 course also). And now an award. I've been judiciously studying every campus sprint I've run, and come up the Mapsurfer Favorite Campus Sprint Award. Not a sanctioned A meet. Not a championship. Not a WRE. But still my favorite. Would that my course be nearly as fun, tho I am confident that the weather will be warmer. Set by Mary Jones, map by Gene Wee (IIRC, apologies for imprecise memories).
