Hellmarka, Middle distance WOC selection race at Craftcup.
clean first couple of controls, missed third by 50m so lost 1.5mins. controls 4 and 5 went fine so started feeling like i could do this. got pulled off to the left in the approach to 6 so found 7 first. messed up 8 near the circle - 3 cairns near the conrol relocated off the wrong one and ended up further from the flag, returned to cairn and took proper bearing - lost 2 mins!
9 and 10 went well, I thought i could put the earlier misses behind me so was still feeling positive.
folded map up real tight took bearing, followed linear hills towards large marsh - at least thats what i thought i was doing!
hill took me to forest track not quite a marsh? ran confussed down the track in a desperate hope it would take me to the marsh but knew deep down this was serious. after a while stopped and slowly opened my tightly folded map to reveal that the writing was all on the wrong end of the map....oh ****!
I had left number 10 at least 4 minutes ago - ok time for a Norwegian map walk :)

Volhaugen, Craftcup model event.
My first taste of Norwegian forest and i liked it lots!

This was nice and i could navigate, messed up a short leg because of the vis but loved the challenge.

Lots of flies!

messed up first 2 controls and never recovered.

confussed at start only caught on when spotting Nick coming from 4-5
wrong route choices on 2 long legs and suffered from heat towards the end.
not good!
