Orienteering race 1:06:09 [4] 8.26 km (8:01 / km)
(injured)

Burren event - ran blue 6km course.

14 controls, 13 of which were in the soon to be felled forests.
I had 3 mistakes for some reason I ran to the wrong controls twice.
I ran to 14 instead of 2 which wasn't too far off the line

but I ran past 5 straight to 11 which was some way past 5 and about 50 metres below it!! - lost about 6mins not concentrating.
felt like sacking it after that but picked myself up and was determined to run hard and clean afterwards.
I did lose a bit of time at 14 near the end so all in all lost around 10 minutes - very poor.

Jack ran fastest in 58mins and said he lost 3-4mins so I guess he would still have been quicker.
Harry ran 76mins very good effort.
Mandy and James ran a tough Orange.

The Climb upto Donard summit for Downhill race - It was a lot quicker coming down!
3 PM

Hill run race 17:38 [4] 3.5 km (5:02 / km)
weight:78.3kg (injured)

Downhill Donard Race - what a disaster!

I thought it would be cool to get the race on the headcam so Jack rigged it up on his MTB helmet (and I carried it up Donard)

first thing wrong was when i registered, they wanted a kit check - to include MAP and COMPASS - come on! were running down a f***en mountain as fast as we can and visibility is about 1000km

so kit sorted I switched on my Garmin which lasted about 2 seconds before it died (I could have sworn I charged it last night?)

now I had 52 mins to get to the summit before the first start (my record for a Donard climb is about 45mins and that was when I was a lot younger :(

Made it up (sweaty) but was last to start 3,2,1 go...F*** did I switch on the headcam? - just my luck to run all the way down and realise I hadn't switched it on!! so pulled the helmet off to check in mid run... tripped, helmet flew thru air, I landed on sharp stone on my knee, picked up the helmet and the cam said ERROR! crap! fiddled about for a few seconds and gave up on it. So I set off again down the mountain thinking that things could'nt get much worse. Wrong half way down a twisted my ankle!

Still managed to finish 4th
