Took the new bike - Claud Butler Hybrid type - Down to Newcastle and back. went via Dundrum and home through Castlewellan.

It was a beautiful day, the warm sunshine made up for the cool breeze coming from the coast. I called in at Greg's to collect the 6 controls he lifted after the LongO - strapped them to my rucsac and headed for the hills.

The return home was hard, the controls were heavy and the climbs were sweaty, I think I worked out the cause of my hamstring prob though.
It may be related to a sciatic problem on the right side.
Lots of cyclists out today, even on the back roads. On the climb up Ballywillwill rd I passed a young fella who had been dropped by some unseen pack - he was weaving all over the place and in obvious distress.

Real happy with the new bike - Its strong and smooth, I don't think I will do much off road with it though.
Time down to Newcastle - 49.12mins (24.26km)
3 PM

Spent the afternoon and evening erecting stepovers on Croob for the JK.
It takes about 5-10 minutes work actually putting one up, the rest of the time is spent carrying tools and timber up that bloody hill!

3 hours climbing with load - 1 hour constructing stepovers

On my first trip up a passed a ewe lying on her back in a small stream.
It was wedged on Its back between stones, The magpies had pecked Its eyes out. I watched for a while and seen that it was still breathing so I climbed down to the stream and hauled it out, hopping that it would suddenly spring to its feet and bleet a thankyou or something - It just slowly dropped its head to the ground and wimpered :(
I thought of the young fella this morning trying to cycle up the Ballywillwill Hill.

When I came back down later to get another load of timber the magpies were back - Bastards!
