Need to skip night championships A-final today due to ankle problem. It would have been nice to race this evening, but no can do.

Orienteering (Night) 45:30 [4] 6.4 km (7:07 / km)

Qualification race for the night championships.

Did a pretty solid run and qualified to the A-final. However in the middle of the course I hit my left ankle (problematic one already many years) and needed to run a bit slower 2 legs. Then I twisted my right ankle - very unlucky... I did run until the end of course but after the race it has been very sore and also my achilles is sore. I'm unsure if I can start on Saturday at all.

HS night-o training in Luukki. Solid run without any bigger mistakes. Punched in the 1st control first and then after 4th control I did not see other lights anymore and maintained my lead until the end. It was a good training and I feel comfortable towards Friday evening night championships qualification race.

Orienteering race 55:20 [4] 8.3 km (6:40 / km)

Relay, 3rd leg.

Luke started really well, but Lauri did not manage to do so good race. When I started I did not see many runners starting at the same time. To the first control I tried to find a path, but ended up too much to the right. Then I was unsure of my location and made a big 2 minute mistake. That was very stupid as I had pretty good feeling in my legs. Next controls went pretty well, but I was running alone all the time. After punching the 15th control I saw two other teams and got some support from them as they were running faster. In the end I made a mistake to the 2nd last control.

I should have done my leg maybe 3-4 minutes faster.

Orienteering race 23:03 [5] 4.2 km (5:29 / km)

Qualification race in the middle distance championships. I managed to do a solid race and made totally maybe 30 seconds of mistakes. One maybe 15 seconds mistake and two smaller ones. In my course there where one long and two pretty long legs. I just could not ran faster and in practice lost my A-final place.

Anyway I'm happy as I did a good race.

Orienteering race 37:29 [4] 5.4 km (6:56 / km)

B-final.

Started well, but when heading towards 2nd control I was a bit unsure where I'm exactly. I had a good speed and caught many other runners who started one minute or two minute earlier. When I was approaching control I just could not saw flag there where I though it should be so I stopped. So did the five or six other runners behind me. I also a field and remembered that there should not be any field on the map... Other guys got an idea where they are and started to run fast to south. I did not agree that at all so I was still staying there and finally understood where I am (outside the map) and went to the control. I lost more than three minutes so that was not so motivating.

I still managed to keep a good speed but during the last third of the course my speed was already slower and I also did a bad route choice to the second last control.

Orienteering race (Night) 1:13:49 [4] 11.1 km (6:39 / km)

AM-yö (9.65 km) in Masala.

I borrowed Kari's lamp as my own Magicshine lamp went broken last week. Green and yellow areas on the map were pretty difficult to pass and already after first controls I was thinking that many runners will make mistakes. Managed to do a pretty solid run and did some smaller mistakes or was a bit uncertain in some locations.

In the end I saw other runner (Tuomo Laine, started 2 min behind me) and then I saw him during the last legs. In the forest I was thinking that he is doing a good run as I was a bit surprised to see him as I haven't made any bigger mistakes. So it came out that he won and I was 2nd.

In the end my legs were very tired so maybe I need to skip HS Thursday training.

I was ready to enjoy night orienteering and started fast. Just before reaching 1st control my lamp started to turn off and I needed to turn it on again and again. Maybe totally something like 300 times. It was very frustrating as the lamp was on 3-5 seconds in a row and then turned off. Very nice to run downhill with a lamp which can turn off any moment...

It should have been doable to be fastest runner, but my lamp was limiting factor.

HS training in Halkolampi. Very nice training and unexpected situations. Did most of the training (four loops) without map (memory orienteering). Speed was solid and no mistakes, but couple of time I was a bit unsure.

To the office. Very nice morning and took my ride pretty easily until I passed one other biker. He decided to follow me so of course I needed to increase my speed so soon I was biking as fast as I could. The end result was good as I managed to get rid off this other biker however it was not because of my speed but rather he just happened to turn to other road...

Uphill training (5 x 380 m uphill interval) in Nummi. Same training than about a month ago. Now my shape is better and I did: 1'43'', 1'47'', 1'48'', 1'46'' and 1'32''.

Last time I was thinking that 1'30'' would be unreachable, but I almost made it. And I must admit that I did not even need to push much.

Back home. Originally I was planning to run 5'30" speed, but it felt pretty nice to run so I did faster. In the end I felt pretty tired.

eGames 2nd day. It was raining heavily before my start and the rain ended when I was about half of the course. Again a solid race, but one about 1'20'' mistake and couple of small ones.
