Orienteering 40:00 [2] **
spiked:10/10c shoes: New Balance (old)

First SOS training event at Fordham Hall, nr Colchester. Warm up for around an hour, then a 30 minute score course. 11 controls. Certainly built up a sweat. Suprised, as I only thought I was going to receive map reading tuition! Good fun.

Biking (road) 20:00 [1] 4.95 km (4:02 / km)

Knee feeling better after Weds run, but thought I would alternate run/bike in initial phases of Operation Get Fit!

Running 20:00 [1] 3.4 km (5:53 / km)
shoes: New Balance (old)

THE RUN - 9pm

Took it very easy, as worried about knees and shins hurting again. Just 20 mins around Chelmsford, running interspersed with walking. Back home and knees ache a bit - will have to see what they are like in the morning.

Update: left knee achey, but nothing like a month ago. Think it's ligaments getting used to exercise again, specifically running. It's been a good few years!

BACKGROUND

Re(start) of my bid to become fit. Approaching 40, with two young kids and thoughts of my mortality have become more prominent!

Will build up RUNNING following a '0 to 10k in 6 weeks' plan. (I started a few weeks ago, but knees really hurt so going to start again, but slowly.)

Will likely incorporate CYCLING too.

Will also participate in ORIENTEERING so the running has a purpose i.e. will hopefully mean my orienteering times improve over time (if navigation skills also get better too!).

Plus, a weekly SQUASH session.
