Swim 35:00 [3] 1.0 km (35:00 / km)
(injured)

Swim in the Benalla pool. I was the only patron until a friend turned up.

Walk/jog 56:00 [3] 6.0 km (9:20 / km)
(injured)

Street O at Ferntree Gully on a warm night. Tried jogging a bit but my knee hurt so resorted to walking. I have a tough week at work as l am facilitating workshops each day trying to broker agreement between the Deputy Chiefs of 4 agencies (CFA, MFB, DEPI and SES) about a common approach to every aspect of operations. Today's event was at Greenvale. The quote of the day was 'when you order an appliance fron DEPI you are likely to get a toaster'.

Walk 1:00:00 [2] 6.0 km (10:00 / km)
(injured)

Walk and jump about around Blackburn Lake. I really enjoyed the sound of cicadas - the sound of Christmas.

Walk 1:20:00 [2] 8.0 km (10:00 / km)
(injured)

Course setting for my street-O event in Blackburn South. I tried jogging but it wasn't really satisfactory. I found the BEST ever Xmas decorated house so will put one of the highest scoring controls in front of it.

Walk 55:00 [2] 5.5 km (10:00 / km)
(injured)

Street O at Surrey Hills. I had to laugh at the briefing when Suzanne queried the need to be careful with the 'male possums'. Seems it had something to do with the train coming :)

Walk 55:00 [2] 5.5 km (10:00 / km)
(injured)

Walk around Blackburn. Knee was a bit swollen after my weekend effort. We're very busy at work at the moment-not only preparing for the fire season but also preparing for the introduction of Emergency Management Victoria early next year.

MTB 56:00 [3] 13.0 km (4:18 / km)
(injured)

Bike ride around Benalla.

Swim 35:00 [3] 1.0 km (35:00 / km)
(injured)

One of the two patrons at the Benalla pool. The other was the man who does my tax. I felt really unfit as I haven't done anything all week - mostly because it was too wet.
3 PM

Run 37:30 [3] 5.03 km (7:27 / km)
(injured) shoes: New Balance 1260

Slow run around Reef Hills with Peter. Felt OK once I got going, which took a while. Trying to not overdo it.

Walk 1:20:00 [2] 8.0 km (10:00 / km)
(injured)

Walk around Mornington

Note

I found out last night that the Rowdy Flat map used on the weekend was the original MTBO map, not the good quality recent O map. No wonder l couldn't read the contours and it appeared all wishy washy!

Wednesday Nov 6, 2013 #

Walk 50:00 [2] 5.0 km (10:00 / km)
(injured)

Street O at Hawthorn. Busy day at work today. What else could go wrong? False alarm warning was sent to 450,000 people. Other people got the wrong warning and rang in complaining. 4 of our aircraft have crashed in past weeks and CASA has taken another 7 offline (cos the wings are likely to fall off). And the Govt Gazette has taken fire restrictions off rather than declaring them. The fire season hasn't even started!

Run 45:00 [3] 5.7 km (7:54 / km)
(injured)

First run since my arthroscope where my knee felt comfortable. It was just a slow plod around Reef Hills but I didn't stop and there were lots of long hills. The most recent solution has been to ditch all forms of orthotics and get supportive flat shoes. I also need to improve my posture and have been working on tucking my bottom and tummy in while trying to stand tall and look ahead while running. Seems to be working. It is a glorious sunny day in the NE. Yayyyy. My life is coming back.

Swim 35:00 [3] 1.0 km (35:00 / km)
(injured)

Swim in the Benalla pool after a morning of gardening. Knee was sore after yesterday but felt better after the swim. I love long weekends.

Orienteering 57:00 [4] 4.18 km (13:38 / km)
(injured)

AWOC club championships at Rowdy Flat on a wishy washy photocopied map.. Knee not too happy at the start. I started OK but got terribly lost between 4 and 5. Probably the most lost l have been for sometime. It took me ages to relocate as there was nothing to go off. Seems any lessons l have previously learnt about orienteeering now need to be relearnt, unfortunately, as l am not only unfit but now cannot navigate either.:( More practice needed l think.

It was a very windy day and the unstable conditions would have made for a bad fire day if the fuels had been dry enough.

MTBO 1:52:00 [4] 19.5 km (5:45 / km)
(injured)

AWOC MTBO event at Chiltern. I managed to get around without discomfort. Peter followed me along (often in front) although he managed to get in the way quite a bit. He can do the event on his own next time. Then we all had a nice lunch afterwards at the neighbouring cafe. They nearly gave my lunch to Dr Meg from Beechworth whose has been mistaken for me for around 20 years- even in her home town.
I had Bruce and Suzanne to stay last night, which was nice.
